Technical specification for “Fabrication and Supply of 20’ Insulated

Container for Reefer”

1. Introduction: PUF (Poly Urethane Foam) insulated chambers of size ~20’ x 8’ x 8’ have to be
fabricated. The chambers are designed to maintain a few experimental setups at ~0°C. Each chamber
consists of a steel structure to transfer weight of all loaded components to ground. The same steel
structure will be used to support and guide PUF insulated panels to be fitted in to the chamber. This
chamber will have four doors, two on each 8’ x 8’ face for loading and unloading of components in
and out of chamber. The chamber will also have ISO mounts at the top and bottom corners in order
to have provision for fixing to any trailer and lifting with the help of twist locks.

2. Quantity: 02 Numbers

3. Scope of Work:
a. Fabrication of steel structure fitted with PUF panels along with ISO mounts on chamber bottom
and top corners will be in the scope of the supplier. The fabrication & fitting of PUF insulated
doors maintaining air tightness, is also in the scope of the supplier. (See attached drawings for
reference. Indicative dimensions are provided in drawings which are suggested for tender
purpose only. Exact external dimensions of the chamber are specified in table below.)
b. Supplier shall prepare the fabrication drawings of the chamber and shall submit them for

and J type on outside (refer drawings for more details) made of
EPDM material
 The supplier shall provide sufficient provision for locking of the
doors and shall guarantee trouble free operation of these locks
for 3 years.
 One small door 3’x3’ shall be provided on one side face on
partition side of chamber with J type seal only. (refer drawings)
 Small door on middle partition (~500mm x 700mm) shall be
provided with sealing arrangement of O and J type seals. (refer
drawings)
Structure  Material of Structure: Mild Steel (See attached drawings for
dimensions)
 Structure shall be fitted with ISO mounts on bottom and top
corner fittings so that it can be fixed on a twist lock trailer and
can be lifted from the top.
 ISO corner mount dimensions and positions shall be as per
relevant standards mentioned in Section 6 of this document.
 Container external dimensions shall conform to relevant standard
mentioned in Section 6 of this document.
 Forklift pockets to lift containers shall be provided.
Partition  The chamber will have one partition across its length located at
~1m from one end/one door
 The ~1m side of chamber will be further partitioned into four
different chambers, as per attached drawings
 Partition will be made of PUF insulation only.
 There will be a few openings on the partition and supplier shall
ensure proper sealing of open PUF surfaces for any
water/moisture ingress.
