GUIDING HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH 11

I. Aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know:


- About English book in grade 11
- How to learn English in grade 11
- How to do English tests
- How to use student’s book and workbook
II. Teaching aids: Student’s book, student’s workbook, dictionary, some test papers, etc.
III. Procedure:

- Introduce to Ss about the teacher - Listen to the teacher
- Ask Ss about their names and English - Answer the teacher’s questions

II. Guiding: 15 ms - Put the student’s book and workbook on the

PRESENTATION:
1. PRESENT SIMPLE
a. Form:
- Bare root for I, you, we, they
- Verb + s/ es for he, she, it Take notes
- Meaning: present time Give examples if necessary
b. Use:
- To express the idea that an action is
repeated or usual. The action can be a
habit, a hobby, a daily event, a scheduled
event or something that often happens. It
can also be something a person often
forgets or usually does not do
E.g: The train leaves every morning at 8
AM.
The train does not leave at 9 AM.
When does the train usually leave?
- To express the idea that an action is
happening or is not happening now.
E.g: He needs you right now
2. PRESENT PROGRESSIVE
a. Form: am/ is/ are + V – ing
Meaning : present time
b. Use:
- To express idea that something is
happening now, at this moment
E.g: What are you doing?
3. PAST SIMPLE
a. Form:V + ed or irregular verbs
b. Use:
- To express the idea that an action
started and finished at a specific time in
the past
E.g: I saw a horror film last night
- To list a series of completed actions in
the past
E.g: He arrived from the airport at 8:00,
checked into the hotel at 9:00, and met the
others at 10:00

- To describe a habit which stopped in
the past
Ex: They never went to school. They always
skipped their classes
4. PAST PRORGRESSIVE
a. Form: was/ were + V – ing
b. Use:
- To indicate that a longer action in the
past was interrupted
E.g: I was watching TV when she called.
- Use the past continuous with two
actions in the same sentence
E.g: I was studying while he was making
dinner
5. PRESENT PERFECT
a. Form: have/ has + past participle
b. Use:
- To express the action happened at an
unspecified time before now
E.g: I have seen that movie twenty times
- To show that something started in the
past and has continued up until now.
E.g: I have had a cold for two weeks

6. PAST PERFECT
a. Form: Had + past participle
b. Use:
- To express the idea that something
occurred before another action expressed
in the past simple
E.g: I had never seen such a beautiful beach
before I went to Hanoi
7. SIMPLE FUTURE:
a. Form: will + V1(bare-infinitive)
b. Use:
- to express an action happened in the
future
e.g: I will lend you some money
tomorrow.
