UNIT 8: SPORTS AND GAMES
Lesson 3: A CLOSER LOOK 2
I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of this lesson, students will be able:
1. Knowledge:
- Master past simple tense and practice using the past simple in real situations and the use
“Imperative” in different situations.
+ Vocabulary: - use the words related to the topic Sports and Games;;
+ New words: aerobic; career; competition, equipment, fit, goggles, gym, karate, marathon, racket,
score, shoot, sporty, take place, tournament
- Pronounce the sounds/e/ and /æ/ correctly;
- express and respond to congratulations;
+ Grammar: - use the past simple;
- use imperatives to tell someone to do something;
2. Competence: Students will be able to learn how to form and use the past simple tense. To
practice using the past simple in real situations and the use “Imperative” in different situations.
3. Quality/ behavior: - the love for doing sports and games they play in daily life. Having a good
behavior toward sports/games, the fair play and friend ship in doing sports.

Grammar
1. WARM UP & INTRODUCTION(3’-5’)
* Aim: - Revise the form and use : The past simple tense
Introduction
- The past simple was already introduced in Tieng Anh 5, so T asks Ss to recall it and give
examples.
- T may ask them some questions: What did you do last Sunday? etc.
- Then encourage Ss to talk about past actions.
* Content: Have some warm-up activities to creat a friendly and relaxed atmostphere to inspire Ss
to warm up to the subject and new lesson
* Outcome: Have a chance to speak English and focus on the topic .

* Aim: Revise/ learn how to use and form the correct form of the past simple.
* Content: Introduce the form and use the past simple.
* Outcome: learn how to form and use the form of the past simple correctly.

- T asks Ss to give the rule and use of the past simple themselves. Then T explains to them if
necessary (use the Grammar box).T can give more examples If necessary. Remind them of using
the past simple when something happened (e.g. yesterday, last Sunday, last month, etc.).

(-) Negative:

(?) Questions and short answers:
