Description of activity: Students will start by thinking about the question on the board as they
come in “what are some of our favorite and least favorite exercises?”. Students are sharing
out their answers and participate in a class discussion about how our body feels when we
work out.

Description of activity: Students are working with their table partners to fill in the blanks on the
Fermentation handout. Start with Lactic Acid fermentation and then alcoholic fermentation.
Between each type of fermentation we will go over what the students put for the blanks and
discuss why they put that answer there.
Students will are working with their table Monitors student work by walking
partners to fill in the handout around and asking questions.
Provides the answers they put and their Calls students back together to talk
explanation for the answer, participates about the answers they put. Poses
in class discussion questions such as “what is the difference
between the two types of
fermentation?”
Elaboration
Description of activity: Students will use the fermentation handout and the topics we talked
about to start writing their Bread Presentation Write Ups. In these write ups they were tasked
with answering three major questions “Why did you choose the ratio you did?”, “How does
fermentation allow our bread to rise?”, “Why did you choose the name you did?”.
