EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The objective of this case study is to make research about entrepreneur that I have
chose which is Julia Ayunny Hazwany binti Jafri who is the founder of Ayunny Bakery. She is
an entrepreneur who starts a business by selling various types of brownies using online
platform as she got lots of requests from her friends. She studied in Diploma of Information
Technology at UNISZA. I have made research on her company and her background of
company. Ayunny Bakery is a food manufacturer based in Terengganu. This business started
from 2018 until now. The reason why I chose her is because she is one of the successful
young entrepreneurs in Terengganu as I was born there.

At first, I briefly explained the introduction in my case study that consist of background
of the owner of Ayunny Bakery. Next, followed by the complete company information on how
she managed to open a bakery. Ayunny Bakery focus on brownies with many choices of
toppings. Beyond the successful of Ayunny Bakery, the owner, Julia Ayunny Hazwany
launched other products like cookies and Korean cakes. Then, I explained a Personal
Entrepreneurial Competencies refers to the key characteristics that should be possessed by
successful entrepreneurs to perform entrepreneurial functions effectively that show on Julia
Ayunny Hazwany.

The Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies that I choose are self-confidence, sees


and acts on opportunities, persuasion, decision making and persistence.

ENTREPRENEUR PROFILE

OWNER BACKGROUND

The founder and the proprietor of Ayunny Bakery, a dedicated 26-year-old woman
named Julia Ayunny Hazwany binti Jafri, known as Ayunny was born in 28th of October 1995
in Terengganu. She was the first-born child in her family. Ayunny lived in Jalan Kampung Laut,
Kuala Terengganu. At first, she started baking just to break up her boredom and for her own
bites. Unexpectedly, her brownies drew a lot of attention from her friends. Ayunny then chose
to sell this as requested by her friends using online platform at the same time, she wanted to
raise funds for her wedding too.

Before she run her business, Ayunny work as Sales Assistant. When it comes to
business and entrepreneurship, she is completely enamoured. She started selling her own
product, Ayunny Bakery, with money she earned from her first job as a Sales Assistant. Since
then, her customer base has steadily grown.

Julia Ayunny Hazwany, a dean's list student, received her diploma in information
technology from the University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UNISZA). She began to learn how to
design banners in Photoshop and create engaging advertisements for every social media
platform. Aside from that, she's been more interested in learning how to make a poster,
banner, and grow social media followers and subscribers. She opted to make interesting
advertising and build social media for her own brand, such as Instagram, Facebook, and
Telegram Channel, after starting her own business, Ayunny Bakery.

BUSSINESS BACKGROUND

The proprietor of registered company with SSM number TR0190815-X, Julia Ayunny
Hazwany, later founded the company on 28th February 2018 in providing halal, hygienic and
premium quality products. Her company is a food manufacturer that specialises in desserts.
She opened a shop located at Jalan Haji Abdul Rahman Limbong, Kuala Terengganu named
Ayunny Bakery inspired by her own name Ayunny itself. She sells various types of tempting
and delicious dessert such as Cookies, Korean Cakes and their best-selling Brownies with
many choices of toppings on it.

Ayunny began her business with only RM500 invested capital. It cannot be denied that
she experienced too many challenges and obstacles since the day she started her business.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, finding a supplier with high-quality supplies was challenging.
It is difficult for her company to create teamwork during the Covid-19 pandemic since everyone
must follow the standard operating procedure (SOP). Recruiting new employees is extremely
difficult for her business during this pandemic.

For the time being, her business appears to be working nicely, with attractive
advertisements on their social media accounts, @ayunnybakery on Instagram and
@ayunnybakerychannel on Telegram. Her monthly sales have surpassed RM40,000, and she
receives a monthly income of RM8000. Ayunny's present goal is to open new branches in
Dungun and Kemaman, as well as provide the complete satisfaction to its teams and
customers.

ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES

Every career makes use of an individual's skills. Some of these competences may be
universal, while others may be specific to the selected vocation. You may interpret
competencies as talents and skills. However, we would refrain from referring to these as
personality qualities because doing so fosters the false assumption that entrepreneurs are
born rather than made. We believe that by recognising these competences as abilities and
skills, entrepreneurship can be taught and learned.

• Self-confidence

As an entrepreneur, having self-assurance brings benefits that go beyond merely feeling


good about yourself. Their personality has an impact on everything they do and will help
them live the wealthy lifestyle they desire. The majority of entrepreneurs start their own
companies because they enjoy being their own boss. They are completely responsible for
their choices.

Julia Ayunny Hazwany, a successful entrepreneur, has a strong conviction in herself and
her abilities. She was confident in what she had accomplished with her skills as a
successful businesswoman after quitting her previous job as a Sales Assistant. She was
confident in her ability to succeed in the food manufacturing industry, specifically in the
brownies business.

• Sees and acts opportunities

Julia Ayunny Hazwany is continuously on the looking for new chances and confiscates
them. In fact, by seizing possibilities, she dared to take any risk in her life. She has a broad
vision that allows her to pursue her passions as a source of financial income. This
capability was demonstrated when she decided to quit even though she was earning a lot
of money as Sales Assistant to change careers when she saw an opening in her current
business.

After receiving great feedback from many customers, she acts on the opportunities by
opening branch in Kuala Terengganu and two coming branches in Dungun and Kemaman.
Through this, her product also received customers from Brunei and Singapore. Finally,
now she has many customers, staffs, agents and dropship. This made her company sales
increased.

• Persuasion

An entrepreneur can successfully persuade or influence others for mobilizing resources,


obtaining inputs, organizing productions and selling his products or services by convincing
customers to buy a product or asserting own competence, reliability, or other personal or
company qualities.

Julia Ayunny Hazwany has also been effective in convincing or influencing others to buy
her products. She has a large network of agents that sell her items in every Terengganu
area. She had a knack for persuading others to buy her stuff. She, for example, uses
Instagram to promote and sell her products. She also offers a lot of discounts.

That is why I believe she is adept at persuading her followers and consumers with a
worthwhile deal. No wonder that she become a successful businesswoman because she
knows how to market her goods effectively. I did follow her on Instagram, and she did
happy hour virtually every day. One of the reasons I admire her is because of her kind yet
soft-spoken personality, which can attract more followers.

• Decision Making

According to my research, Julia Ayunny's decision-making abilities influence her ability to


be a successful entrepreneur. Making decisions has been identified as one of the main
talents that an entrepreneur needs acquire or possess in order to be successful in any
business endeavour. Is the process of selecting the best of all potential solutions,
according to management principles. She picked what she thought was best for the
company and its employees after weighing each of these options. Many people have
difficulty bringing their ideas to market and starting new businesses. They must be astute
in order to make the right decisions and to be able to manufacture things that satisfy the
tastes of their customers. Decision making abilities can describe an entrepreneur who can
attract clients and at the same time can accomplish the specified benefits.

• Persistence

Persistence is when an entrepreneur is able to make repeated efforts or to take different


actions to overcome an obstacle that gets in the way of reaching goals. Despite the fact
that Ayunny Bakery has been in business for more than three years, its brownies continue
to be the most popular in Terengganu. This is due to Ayunny Bakery's excellent technique
of changing the appearance of its products and using marketing campaigns. Because
there were so many brownie sellers on the market at the time, they had to deal with a lot
of challenges and obstacles. They must compete with other bakeries in order for their
goods to be recognised. They must be persistent in order to be recognised by a large
number of individuals. Ayunny Bakery has been in the market for more than three years
now but their products were still the top selling brownies in Terengganu. This is because
Ayunny Bakery used a great strategy which is to change its product appearance to a new
one and use marketing advertisements.

Because there were so many brownie goods on the market at the time, they had to deal
with a lot of challenges and obstacles. They must compete with other bakeries in order for
their products to be known. They must be persistent in selling their products by performing
measures that have a significant impact on the problems in order to be recognised by a
large number of people. As a result, they use marketing commercials in order to get more
clients and sell their product for a longer period of time. Finally, a customer of a product
will discover the product that they have been consuming if it tastes nice. It is important for
an entrepreneur to have perseverance skills in their business.
