The importance of diversity in the workplace

A. Based on the video 1, discuss one (1) importance of the workplace diversity.
 A diverse workplace is an important asset, since it acknowledges the individual strengths
of each employee and the potential they bring. Valuing the differences of others is what
ultimately bring us all together and can be the secret to a successful, thriving workplace
and a fair work culture.

B. In your perspective, is it possible for a sound collaboration to occur from a diversity set of
employees?

 Working in teams enables employees to be quicker and more effective in their work, as
compared to people who work on projects on their own. Collaborating also makes
employees more responsible, which goes a long way in raising their motivation levels,
especially when team work virtually.

C. Based on Video 2, how does cross-cultural communications address workplace conflict and
diversity barriers?

 Cross-Cultural Communication where people belonging to diverse cultures being in


communication with each other needs to be effective in order to avoid disagreements
and conflicts and in turn achieve business objectives. In order to make cross cultural
communication effective, a firm has to understand the barriers involved in the cross
cultural communication process and identifying means of overcoming such barriers in
order to make cross cultural communication effective.

D. Why is it beneficial to have cross-cultural communication in the tourism and hospitality


workplace?

 Ultimately, cross-cultural training is not only useful for employees from different
cultures and ethnicities to work together but it also necessary for employees to learn
how to handle certain situations that are raised by customers from diverse cultures,
religions and ethnicities.
