In yoga science, very useful mantras and yoga mudras have been told to control
diabetes. According to research in this direction, Linga Mudra, Surya Mudra, Apan Mudra,
Gyan mudra, and Prana Mudra are considered helpful Yoga Mudras for Diabetes.
Hinduism and Buddhism have symbolic or ritualistic gesture or gestures. While some postures
involve the entire body, most postures are performed with hands and fingers. A mudra is a
spiritual gesture that changes mood, attitude, and perception and deepens awareness and
concentration. This was a very common practice in the past and was used by spiritual
intellectuals both Hindu and Buddhist. In the modern era, yogis and other meditation
practitioners use the gesture of yoga.
Mudras are part of Yoga and it is also called Yoga Mudra. Mudras done using hands are called
Hasta Mudra. The 5 fingers represent pancha tattva :

Sit in any comfortable seating posture and place the hands with palm pointing upwards
on the thighs or the knees.
Now fold your index finger and tap the tip of the index finger to the tip of the thumb.
The rest of the three fingers should keep extended as much as possible.
You can practice Gyan Mudra by standing in Tadasana Yoga (Mountain pose), otherwise sitting
on a chair.
You can also do Meditation postures like Padmasana, Siddhasana, Swastikasana, Vajrasana,
etc. or pranayama session for the best result.
Prana Mudra: Increases Life Force or Vitality
Prana mudra is considered the center of prana shakti. By doing this, the flow of life increases
throughout the body. With the prana mudra, the balance of phlegm and fire element is
established. And stimulate the root chakra. This helps lower blood sugar levels.
Sit in any comfortable seating posture and place the hands with palm pointing upwards
on the thighs or the knees. Or you can do practice while lying on the bed, or even walking.
(but sitting is recommends)
Now fold your small and ring finger and tap the tip of the small and ring finger to the tip
of the thumb.
The rest of the index and middle fingers should keep extend as much as possible.
Patients of diabetes get more benefit by doing 15 minutes of Apana mudra and 15 minutes of
prana mudra.
Surya Mudra: Increases the Fire Element
According to Ayurveda, Surya mudra is associated with the sun. Sun is considered a symbol of
health and energy. By performing Surya Mudra, the fire elements of the human body are
governed. And the excess of earth element ends. That’s why this mudra is also known as Agni
Vardhak mudra.
It also controls the amount of urea in the blood. And also avoids the disease of diabetes. By
practice regularly you can see a reduction in cholesterol and a decrease in sugar levels.
To lose weight, one follows Yoga for weight loss, then one goes to the gym. If you do not have
enough time for these, then try the sun mudra for the best benefits.
Sit in any cross-legged pose on the floor or chair, even can do it while standing.
Close your eyes and take some deep breaths.
Now fold your ring finger and press it with your thumb.
Put the ring finger of your hand in the root of the thumb.
The rest of the three fingers should keep extended as much as possible.
Apana Mudra: Detoxifies the Entire Body
Apana mudra is a very important mudra to the human body. Because it detoxifies the entire
body, an important requirement of a healthy body. This mudra detoxes the body by stimulating
the excretion system to flush out the toxins of the body.
Regularizing the Apana mudra helps to control diabetes and removes body temperature by
sweating.
You can practice this mudra while sitting in the Vajrasana, Padmasana, Sukhasana, and
any cross-legged pose.
Now fold your middle and ring finger and tap the tip of both fingers would jointly touch
the tip of the thumb.
The rest of the three fingers should be keep extended as much as possible.
Linga Mudra: Hand Gesture Represents Shiva
Linga mudra is a Sanskrit term for a hand gesture that represents Shiva, Supreme God. It is
associated with the male phallus (the male genital organ) or male reproductive organ . This
mudra is a symbol of masculinity, hence called Linga mudra. It works by concentrating on the
fire element inside the body. When practiced regularly, it can help relieve diabetic symptoms.
