Do not stand it on the slope if possible.
.......
CAUTION
Do not push control panel with excessive force or lean against it.
Do not sit on control panel or apply excessive force.
If adjusting the height or position of control panel, note the space between control
panel and lift. You may get injured because your finger etc. may get stuck.
.......
WARNING
Ultrasonic waves may cause harmful effects in cells and be potentially harmful to
patients. When there is no special purpose medically, minimize the exposure time and
maintain the output of ultrasonic waves as low as possible. See ALARA principle.
If an error message or warning message on dangerous situations appears on the screen
of the product, do not use the product. Write down the on-screen message and then turn
off power and contact the Samsung Medison Global service group.
Do not use showing abnormal and strange behavior. Discontinuous operation of
continuous scanning is due to failure of hardware and it should be repaired prior to use.
This product limits the temperature that a patient can touch to less than 43 degrees
Celsius and Ultrasonic power output (AP&I) complies with the limits of U.S. FDA.
1) POWER
Power controls system Acoustic output. 2 real time Output values of TI and MI
appear on the screen. These change as the system responds to power
adjustment. In combination modes such as simultaneous color, 2D mode, Pulsed
Doppler, all of each mode is added to total TI. Each mode is the major factor of
this total TI and displayed MI appears from the mode with the largest peak
pressure.
4) SCALE
If increasing Color velocity range by using scale control, TI may increase. The
system will be adjusted automatically to keep Pulser voltage less than system
maximum. Decrease of Pulser voltage also decreases MI.
5) SEC WIDTH
If narrowing 2D mode sector width in color images, color Frame rate rises. TI will
increase and MI will not change. If Pulsed Doppler is operating, Pulsed Doppler
will maintain the main mode and the change of TI will be small.
1) Probe
Each useful probe model has unique specification for contact area, beam shape
and center frequency. When selecting probe, default values are initialized.
MEDISON plant default values differ depending on probe, diagnostic subject and
selection mode. Default values are selected as less than the standard of FDA
Since ultrasound waves are likely to pass through tissues whose length and type
are changed during the experiment, it is difficult to predict true In Situ intensity. If

5.1 Overview
Chapter 5 describes the behavior principle and internal structure of A30. You must read
this for maintenance and upgrade of the product. A30 is the ultrasound imaging diagnotor
to which Software DSC is applied. 21.5 inch LCD monitor was selected and high-
resolution ultrasound imaging as well as premium functions is included. To improve the
processing speed, Samsung Medison’s own new technology realized interface of the
ultrasound system and PC with the latest specifications. Improvement in processor speed
reduces the treatment time of users by speeding up processing speed. A30 can use up to
192 Element Probe and applied Digital Beam forming way of TX 128 Channel. Ultrasound
signals show ultrasound images in the LCD monitor through Front End Part and Back End
part (including PC Part). The resolution of LCD monitor is 1280 X 1024 and provides the
image formats of various shapes. There is no inconvenience while diagnosing images due
to large viewing angle of LCD panel. Also, the arm shaped monitor adjustment device
enables users to freely adjust it in varying degrees. By placing DVD RW Drive and USB
Port on the front of the product, we made Image Backup and software service convenient.
The convenient Upgrade environment is provided because you can variously use external
storage devices such as USB MO와 USB Flash Memory and external USB HDD etc.
The representative structures of A30 are as follows.
• Ultrasound System Part : PSA, BF Board, CW Board, BE Board,AC Board, DC to DC
Power Module
• PC Part : PCIE, DVI, VGA, PC Mother Board, Rear Panel, PC Power Supply
• User Interface Part : LCD Monitor, Control Panel, Touch Panel, Track Ball, Alphanumeric
Keyboard, LCD IF Board
• AC to DC Power Module
5.3.1 Overview
A30 is composed of Ultrasound System Part, PC Part, User Interface Part and Power Part.
However, in terms of electronic structure, it can be divided into Front End Part and Back
End Part, User Interface Part, Power Part. The following is explanation on A30 of
electronic structure. Front End Part is composed of AC(Analog Control),CW(Continuous
Wave) Board of Ultrasound System Part and PSA(Probe Select Assembly), BF(Beam
former) Board. The important behaviors of Front End Part are to generate by passing High
Voltage Pulse to probe and process Digital Beam forming by amplifying returned echo
signal. RF signal generated here is passed to Back End Part. Back End Part means
BE(Back End) Board and PC Part of Ultrasound System Part.
RF signal made in BF(Beam former) Board is made into various diagnostic images such
as BW, Color Doppler, PW Doppler, CW Doppler, Power Doppler etc. and displayed on
the monitor for users to see. Also, various diagnoses are possible by applying new
technologies such as SCI, DMR, AIO etc. User Interface Part means LCD monitor and
control panel (including touch panel). Power Part is divided into AC-DC Power Module and
DC-DC Power Module and AC-DC Power Module plays a role of supplying power to DC-
DC Power Module by converting AC voltage to DC voltage and supplying power to PC
Power of PC Part. DC-DC Power Module supplies voltage to Boards of Ultrasound
System Part and PC Power plays a role of supplying voltage of PC Part.
• AC(Analog Control)
• BF(Beam former Board)
• BE(Back End Board)
• DDM(DC to DC Power Module)
5.3.3 PC Part
The main function is composed of Scan Converter and image output circuit to implement
ultrasound information made in Ultrasound System Part on the monitor. Also, it performs
control panel and interface. Ultrasound image information output in Ultrasound System
Part is connected to PC Part in PCIF in DMA way and implements ultrasound image
through software DSC and VGA. Existing ultrasound imaging diagnostor used Hardware
DSC way but A30 implemented with Software DSC and shows ultrasound image in LCD
monitor. PC Power Supply uses Micro ATX as the standard and supplies power to PC Part.
Configuration of PC Part is as follows.
• PCIE(Peripheral Component Interconnect Express )
• DVI(Digital Video Interface)
• VGA(Video Graphics Array)
• PC Mother Board
• Rear Panel
• PC Power Supply

5.5.4.1 TX Pulser
Exciting pulse data provided in BF ASIC(MCB124) passes TX Pulse Buffer and then is
provided to TX Pulser(MAX4811). TX Pulser creates Bipolar Pulse by using Exciting pulse
data and High Voltage provided in DC-DC Power Module. Bipolar Pulse generates
ultrasound waves by being transmitted to Probe Element by using PSA (Probe Select
Assembly). Supporting up to 192Element with Active aperture 128 Channel, separate
Element Selection is needed and High Voltage Switch is used for this. High Voltage Switch
is configured in PSA(Probe Select Assembly).
Low-Pass Filter filters Noise in Stop Band not bandwidth of ultrasound signal. It also plays
a role as Anti-aliasing Filter minimizing Aliasing phenomenon that may result from high-
frequency Probe such as 7.5MHz Probe etc. Aliasing phenomenon of high-frequency
Probe occurs due to limitation of Sampling Clock in BF ASIC.
5) A/D Converter
It plays a role of converting digital signal to be used in Digital Beam forming from analog.

Chapter 9 Probe
9.1 Overview
Probe is the device obtaining image data by transferring and receiving ultrasound waves
and is also called as Transducer or Scan head. This product limits the temperature that
patients can contact to 43 degrees Celsius and ultrasound output values comply with the
limit standards of U.S. FDA. The power protection fuse of this product protects the product
from overcurrent. If power monitoring protection circuit detects overcurrent, it prevents the
probe surface from overheating by immediately blocking current connected to probe and
limits ultrasound output.
