FIRST TERM 2021/2022 SESSION
DATE: 8th November, 2021 SUBJECT: Computer Studies WEEK: 6
NAME: Emmanuel ‘Kayode CLASS: JS2
TOPIC: Computer’s units of DURATION OF LESSON: 80mins AVERAGE AGE: 11yrs +
storage

A. BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES (Cognitive, Affective and Psychomotor)

At the end of the lesson students should be able to:
i. State the meaning of storage
ii. State the meaning of units of storage
iii. State the various units of storage and their values
iv. Convert from one unit to another
v. Differentiate between kilometre, kilogram and kilobye
vi. Distinguish between kilobyte, megabyte and gigabyte

B. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:
The student’s textbooks and internet resources, like Google search and Wikipedia,

C. PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:

The students know about storage devices

D. INTRODUCTION:
Ask questions on previous topic and call on students to answer:
i. How do you define storage?

E. PRESENTATION (Step by step exposition of the material):

i. The teacher defines storage and explains how it works
ii. He mentions examples of different storage devices
iii. Mentions the various units of storage and their values
iv. Guide the students how to convert from one unit of storage to another
v. Differentiate between KB, MB and GB using illustrative examples

F. CONTEXTUALIZATION (of the materials of the classroom situation)

The students would be able to visualize how data and information are stored on storage media.

G. STUDENTS’ ENGAGEMENT IN THE LESSON:

The students practically confirm how computer store data and information on the computer memory using binary
digits, also known as “bits.” They Microsoft Word to confirm how the computer combines a group of bits
together to form bytes that are used to represent a character in a word processor window.

H. REVIEW (By teachers and students of familiar material):

Both teacher and students reiterate the key points and terms from the student’s textbook and notes.

I. EVALUATION QUESTIONS (in three learning domains—cognitive,

affective, psychomotor):
The teacher will ask the students the following questions;
i. Mention the various units of storage and their values
ii. Convert 28000 bytes to KB.
iii. One byte = ________ bits or ______________ nibbles
iv. One nibble = ________________ bits
v. One character = _________________ bytes or _________ nibbles or _____________ bits
vi. One word = ___________ bytes or __________ nibbles or ______________ or _________ bits

J. CONCLUSION:

The teacher ends the lesson by reemphasizing the terms frequently mentioned during the lesson. He reiterates the
function/role of computer storage in computer operations.
