(Storage Input and Output Devices)

Title: Storage Input and Output Devices

Grade Level: Grade 11

Duration: 60 minutes

Date: May 8, 2023

I. Objectives

 Students will be able to define and describe the purpose of storage input and
output devices.
 Students will be able to identify and differentiate between different types of
storage input and output devices.
 Students will be able to explain the advantages and disadvantages of different
types of storage input and output devices.

II. Materials

 Whiteboard and markers

 Handouts explaining different types of storage input and output devices
 Computers with various types of storage input and output devices (e.g. USB
flash drives, external hard drives, CD/DVD drives)

III. Procedures

A. Preliminaries

 Introduce the topic of storage input and output devices.

 Ask students if they know what storage input and output devices are, and if
they have used any of them before.
 Review the different types of storage input and output devices that will be
covered in the lesson.

B. Recall

 Ask students to recall what they learned about storage devices in previous
classes.
 Review key terms and concepts related to storage devices.

C. Motivation

 Explain the importance of storage input and output devices in computer

systems.
 Discuss real-world scenarios where different types of storage input and output
devices might be used.
D. Activity

 Distribute handouts explaining different types of storage input and output

devices.
 Have students work in pairs or small groups to examine different types of
storage input and output devices and identify their purpose and functionality.
 Ask students to present their findings to the class.

E. Analysis

 Lead a class discussion to review the different types of storage input and output
devices and their advantages and disadvantages.
 Ask students to compare and contrast different types of storage input and
output devices.

F. Abstract

 Summarize key concepts related to storage input and output devices.

 Ask students to write a brief paragraph summarizing what they learned during
the lesson.

G. Application

 Have students work in pairs or small groups to research real-world scenarios

where different types of storage input and output devices might be used.
 Ask students to present their findings to the class.

H. Generalization

 Ask students to reflect on how the information they learned in the lesson can be
applied in the real world.
 Encourage students to think critically about the role of storage input and
output devices in computing.

IV. Evaluation

 Assess student understanding of key concepts related to storage input and

output devices through class participation and completion of the handout.

V. Assignment

 Ask students to research and write a short paper on a specific type of storage
input or output device and its advantages and disadvantages.
