BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE
Career Guidance Program is designed to help
learners explore their choices and make responsible
decisions relevant to career pathing. These include
planning for their track and strand for Senior High
School, choosing their curriculum exits (Higher Education,
Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Middle Level Skills
Development), and planning for their future. The
Department of Education (DepEd) issues the enclosed
Career Guidance Program (CGP) for S.Y. 2021-2022
which aims to establish guidelines and procedures for its
implementation.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
The CGP aims to guide secondary
level (Senior High School Students) in
choosing career tracks that they intend to
pursue through informed career choices
towards becoming productive and
contributing individuals as stated in RA
10533 otherwise known as the Basic
Education Act of 2013.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
a. To guide senior high school students in choosing
career tracks that they intended to pursue through
informed career choices towards becoming productive
and contributing individuals;

b. To integrate the career concepts in the curriculum and


teaching in relevant learning areas;

c. To equip senior high school students with the


capability to make educated career decisions and
expose them to relevant labor markets.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

The Role of a Career
Guidance Advocate
and Career Guidance
Counselor
CAREER ADVOCATE
- is a non-registered counselor, a peer facilitator or
he/she may be a teacher guidance designate who is appointed by
the School Principal. Republic Act 10533 or the Enhanced Basic
Education Act of 2012 requires high schools to have “career and
employment guidance counselors” who will properly guide the students
in choosing their career tracks.

ROLE OF CAREER ADVOCATE


- is to to work with students and parents to help guide
students' academic, behavioral and social growth, but does not do
career counseling. Individuals in this field work in elementary,
high schools, senior high schools.
CAREER GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
A GUIDANCE COUNSELOR is a natural person who has been
registered and issued a valid Certificate of Registration and a valid Professional
Identification Card by the Professional Regulatory Board of Guidance and
Counseling and the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) in accordance
with this Act and by virtue of specialized training performs for a fee, salary or
other forms of compensation, the functions of guidance and counseling under
Section 3 (a) of this Act. (RA 9258)

CAREER GUIDANCE COUNSELOR ROLE


- is to work with students and parents to help guide
students' academic, behavioral and social growth. Can do career
counseling with students, parents and other professionals.
Individuals in this field work in elementary, high schools, senior
high schools, Colleges and Universities.

CAREER GUIDANCE is a developmental process that


facilitates the acquisition of attitudes; skills and
knowledge to help students better understand
themselves while exploring viable education and
career options that eventually result into making
informed decisions with developed plans to achieve
their career aspirations.

secondary schools to see a variety of
available academic options that would
help them through their preferred
learning styles, and be helped to find
how to develop plans to reach their
educational and occupational goals.

Career Development Domain pertains to all occupational


and world of work- related concerns and issues of learners.
This involves the acquisition of skills, attitudes and knowledge
that enable them to make a successful transition from school
to the world of work, and from job to job across their life
span. This includes but is not limited to learners’ discovery of
their interests, talents and skills, decision- making, problem-
solving, planning, and in exploring their career options and
opportunities (based on DM 155 s. 2020).

GUIDANCE

Homeroom Guidance is a comprehensive,


developmental and proactive program designed to
equip K to 12 learners with life skills on three
domains: Academic Development, Personal and
Social Development and Career Development
(based on DM 155 s. 2020).

PORTFOLIO

Career Guidance Portfolio is a collection of


learner’s outputs (in hard or electronic copy)
showing his/her progress in career
development. This may include a summary of
assessment taken, journal entries, activity
sheets, and other relevant output.
CAREER GUIDANCE PORTFOLIO
Career Guidance outputs shall be compiled
in the Career Guidance Portfolio. This must
contain the following:
• Accomplished activity sheets
• Copy of academic grades
• Assessment results
• Activity outputs relevant to Career
Guidance
CAREER GUIDANCE PORTFOLIO
Learners may create a physical
(hardcopy) portfolio, using durable
materials that can withstand common
elements (short folder or clear book,
fastener or other materials available
at home). This portfolio will be utilized
until they finish Senior High School.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
❖ Attendance will be monitor. Please Attend!
❖ LISTEN Attentively and PARTICIPATE Actively!
❖ While the speaker discuss the topic/modules, TAKE
NOTES important information especially the
task/activities you need to accomplish after the
session.
❖ You are given 2 weeks to accomplish the
task/activities in every module. You will submit on or
before the next session/scheduled date.
❖ Career Guidance Portfolio will be submitted after
the Program.
