Modelling Drone 1:

Pt 3.
- Minor Project.
Looked at adding in the water tank, to do this I created
a polygon cube and smoothed its geometry to create a
sphere. From there I then applied a lattice deformer
and pulled the sphere into to roughly the shape I was
looking for, adding in extra edge loops where needed
and removing faces where they can’t be seen.

Tank.
Adding On The Antenna.
After adding in the antenna I then looked at creating the front
port flap.
To do this I created a cube and then went about shaping
the flap to match that seen in the orthographs. Staring by
modeling half and then mirroring later.
Here I also added in a rivet hole using the circularize tool
and extruding, ready for when I add in the connecting wires
to complete the flap.
I then mirrored the half flap. To fix the
part where the flap curves away from the
drones surface I used a lattice deformer
to help bring in the geometry back in.
Here I also did some clean up to the
geometry by removing some of the edges
loops to help with some of the pinching
and dips within the surface.
I then looked to add in the rivets for
the other side of the connecting wire. To
do this I duplicated the flap and deleted
any geometry that wasn’t needed and
adjusted the new rivets as needed.
Creating the Connecting Wires for the Flap.
From there I proceeded to add in the three light
strips to the front of the drone . To do this I
added in some extra edge loops and extruded
the faces in and then back to in set the lights
into the mesh.
From there I added in three curved piece of
geometry for the lights and inlaid them to the
drones geometry.

Outcome.
I then added in the responder tubes, initially starting with
a cube and shaping the geometry to form the first half of
the tubes. Once happy with the geometry I then mirrored
the first responder tube across. From there they were put
into place and had a lattice deformer applied to help
curve them to the top of the drone.
I then proceed to add in little details to each tube to
help add a level of interest as seen the in concept art for
each drone.

On the next slide I added

a rim to the responder
tubes and looked to add
in the base for the pipe
that runs across the top
of the drone.
Responder Tubes outcome and Base of Drones Top Pipe.
For the pipe I created one side first, forming the base and then adding in
little screws by extruding the geometry out to form the screw heads. I then
mirrored and used a lattice deformer to help curve the pipe bases to the
drone.
To form the back number plate I duplicated the drones
main shell and then removed the unwanted faces from
the front of the drone. Here I then halved the geometry
and proceeded to push and pull the geometry with
extrusions to get the base shape; adding edge loops
where need. Here I also added in two screws built into
the back plate. Doing so by using the circularize tool and
extruding faces to from that screw head.
