Modelling Drone 2

- Minor.
Scene Set Up.

Set up the orthographs for drone 2 arms and scaled them accordingly.
From there I created a polygon cube and and smoothed it is geometry to from a sphere. I then
extruded faces from one side of the sphere to start forming the upper arm.

With this in place I created a recess at the extrusion area to help from the shoulder plate of the
arm.
After forming the upper
arm I went on to create
the elbow joint piping,
using the extrude and
edge loop tools to help
form and push the
geometry to where I
wanted it to sit. Here I
also create similar
recesses in the joining
areas of where the
upper and forearm
meet the pipe.
Here I also formed the
forearm and hand,
leaving room for the
wrist cuff to be added
later.
To from the ‘palm’ of the hand I used the cut tool to draw in the shapes I wanted for the palm. Here I removed the
faces I didn’t want and went about extruding in the edge to form a lip and inner well for a mechanism to sit in later
I then added the box that sits on top of the hand by extruding the selected faces (in orange) and then tidying
up some of the geometry from the extrusion. Here I also adding the small details that rest in laid to the box.
I then created the inner hand mechanism and that sits inside the palm plates and looked at creating one finger with
the UV’s laid out ready for when the rest of the arm UVs are laid out. Here I also adjusted the finger and turned it
into a thumb, with this I added on an extra extrusion to the bottom to help with fitting it to the hand.

Wrist Band.

To form the wrist band I tried to create it ouf of one piece of geometry by extruding in and then
up. In the unsmoothed preview the shape works but when smoothed there were what
appeared to be ‘rips in the mesh, causing the geometry to become unclean and inconsistent.

1. 2.

1. Placed cuff on wrist and scaled to get a rough fit.

2. Added lattice and did initial deform to the wrist cuff.
3. Adjusted arm geometry and then refined cuff fitting with the existing lattice deformer.

Drone 2 Arm Base.
Adding rivet and wire to shoulder plate ready to be manipulated
later when added to the drone body.
Adding further geometry to then be able to add on wire that connects to each part of the arm.
Connecting Arm Wire.

Used in the extrude and cut tool to add in geometry and add form, in addition to this I also used the merge
vertices to attach the two pipe ends in the middle.

Connecting Wires.
Then I created the side panel on the forearm using the same construction method used to create the box on the back of
the hand. Here I also reused the connecting wire idea used previously to ‘attach’ the panel to the arm/ ‘give it power.
Adding the Palm Connections.
