Let the students watch a video about “The Material and
Physical Concerns of Man”
a. What is the video all about?
b. What are the different material and physical concerns of
man?
c. What did you realize after watching the video?
“Man is too busy dealing with many things in life. Because
of this, man tends to forget other important aspect of his
existence, especially his connection with God”
3. Christian Message: Matthew 5:9-11
“9 
For he and all his companions were astonished at the
catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and
John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on
you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on
shore, left everything and followed him.”
Jesus had called the disciples to share in the mission of
evangelization. This happened despite of the doubts and hesitation of
the disciples. They learned to trust Jesus and commit everything to
the eternal plan of the Father.

Ask the students to bring out a sheet of paper folded
lengthwise. On the right side of the paper they will be
writing the positive criteria of an ideal friend. On the left
side, they will be writing the negative characteristics of a
person that they don’t want to be with. At the back of the
paper, write the names of those people whom you
considered to be friend and who passed your criteria of
an ideal person. Processing follows.
a.How do you choose your friend?
b.What do you do if these people who passed your
requirements actually failed your expectations?
c. How do you take good care of your friends?
The activity purifies one’s objective decision making in
choosing their friends and keeping them around. With
this activity, we will be able to identify the difference on
how we choose the people around us and on how God
had chosen His Apostles.

“12 On one of those days he went out to the mountain
to pray,a and he spent the whole night in prayer to
God.b 13 And when it became day, he called his
disciples to him and chose from among them 12, whom
he also named apostles:c 14 Simon, whom he also
named Peter, Andrew his brother, James, John, Philip,d
Bar·tholʹo·mew, 15 Matthew, Thomas,e James the son
of Al·phaeʹus, Simon who is called “the zealous one,” 16

Let the students watch a short documentary film on the life
of Saint John Paul II.
a. Describe the life of Saint John Paul II.
b. On what part of John Paul’s life, can you relate your life
as an apostle of Christ?
c. If there’s one thing that you would like to preach to the
people, what is it? Why? Justify your answer.
The life of Saint John Paul II will give us a very wonderful
picture of how man works for the common good of everyone.
Just like Saint John Paul II, we are also being called to be an
instrument of evangelization to our fellowmen.
3. Christian Message (Mark 16:15)
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the
gospel to all creation.”
The transmission of the Christian faith consists primarily in
proclaiming Jesus Christ in order to lead others in Faith in
Him. From the beginning, the first disciples burned with the
desire to proclaim Christ. We cannot but speak of what we
have seen and heard. (CCC, 425).

Evidently, as human beings, we must understand that to know Jesus
