1 SCOPE

The present document sets out the instructions and recommendations for grouting and wedging of
monoblock equipment and rotating machines.

It defines in particular :
- the types of mortar to be used
- the pouring conditions

2 TYPES OF MORTAR

21 Grouting and wedging mortars

Ordinary cement mortar

22 Mortar qualities

- Aggregate for mortar, 5 cm thick


. River sand : 0/5

- Aggregate for mortar, more than 5 cm thick

3 POURING CONDITIONS

31 Mechanical anchoring and wedging

Type and dimensions such as to allow the bolts to be tightened to their rated torque load, before
grouting and wedging mortars are poured.

32 Time of grouting and wedging mortar pouring

- For a rotating machine :


After the scheduled final alignment checking

- For a fabricated component :


After anchor bolts tightening to the rated torque-load

33 Basement level preparation prior to mortar pouring

- Cleaning : remove all foreign matters and miscellaneous impurities


- Humidification of raw concrete in depth
- Remove the residual water just prior to the pouring

34 Pouring of wedging mortar

- Continuously
- Take all necessary precautions to avoid the formation of air pockets under the metal frame (e.g.
: pouring on a single side, with hydrostatic chimney or injection pump)
