In my own observation, the classroom is very much warm to study and very
comfortable. The environment and ambiance of the room is very much appealing.
It has visual aids which are very pleasant to the eyes, furniture is properly
arranged and it is well-ventilated which is why students can totally concentrate to
their lessons. It also amazes me a lot when the teacher is no longer using a manila
paper for her lesson but a television which I have not experienced during my Junior
High School years. Plus the new renovate classrooms has its own comfort room. This
is an advantage because the students can go to the comfort room with no hustle since
it is inside of their room.
Meanwhile, when crossing to the room, the students are greeting us "good
morning, visitors" which is indeed a heartwarming. W also take our response they also
greet us. The classroom facilities they have are a big help to motivate the students in
the learning process.
OBSERVE
How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the learning of the
students going to school? What are your conclusions?
The facilities of the school campus and the classroom greatly affect the learning of
the students that go to school, because if the school and classroom is improper and not
ventilated, the students will start to think not to go to school. For instance, there are
schools today that are very much limiting their cost whereby the number of students is not
enough to the ratio of the chairs and to the point that some students sat on the floor. In this
scenario, I conclude that if the students are not comfortable or satisfied of a certain school
they will get lazy and skip classes because they cannot concentrate if their school
environment doesn't fit to their learning adaptability. But, in the contrary, if they are
comfortable or satisfied enough with the facilities of a school, then they will be more eager
to attend the school regularly.
How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/How
does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
REFLECT
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why? Why
not?
OBSERVE
As you look around and examine board displays, use the observation guide and forms
provided for you to document your observations.
1. Go around the school and examine the board displays. How many board displays do
you see?
2. Where are the display boards found? Are they in places where target viewers can
see them?
3. What are the displays about? What key messages do they convey? What images and
colors do you see? How are the pieces of information and images arranged?
4. What materials were used in making the displays? Are borders used?
5. Do you notice some errors? (misspelled words, grammar inconsistencies and the
like)
6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?
7. Think about what got your attention. Why did it get your attention?
8. Take a photo of the display boards (if allowed).
Based on the questions on the observation guide, write your observation report:
As I walk around the school premises and examine the board displays on that
particular area, there are 8 bulletin boards in every classroom, 1 outside the Principal's
Office and 1 in the right side of the entrance gate.
The display boards are placed inside of every room except for the entrance gate and
Principal's Office. All of these are highly visible and accessible for all the students, parents
and stakeholders. This is also proportion to the height and size of the wall.
As what I have mentioned, every classroom has its own bulletin boards. One is for
the health information which consists of posters of food pyramid and hygienic activities,
the other is about the birthdates of the students, schedules of cleaners, statistical data and
the best written works of the students while the rest of the boards are for different subjects
that is taught in the class which is filled with colorful pictures and captions.
On the other hand, the bulletin board which can be found at the right side of the
entrance gate is all about National Bullying Prevention Month wherein it is well-
constructed and creatively done. Outside the Principal's Office is a board display about the
information of everyone. It is consist of announcements to the learners and teachers. Has a
picture of food pyramid and education programs of other schools around the city. The
borders are visible, the colors of the board are in harmony with the wall and the prints are
friendly to the eyes.
All of the board displays are well-constructed and they are creatively done. It is
color printed and has minimal designs. The materials used in making prints are cartolina
and white papers. The prints are correctly spelled, grammatically free from errors, simple,
understandable and friendly to common audience. The borders were made of wood and
covered with cartolina that defines the edges and corners of the board. The pictures are
also very attractive to the eyes and easily catch the attention of the students. Since the
school caters from kindergarten to Grade 6 students, so both pictures and texts that are
used are big in size.
What really got my attention is the uniqueness of the board which conveys the
message about uniting our nation for kindness, acceptance and inclusion, and even the
world, to visibly show that we believe no child should ever experience bullying.
From among the board displays that you saw, pick the one that you got most
interested in. Evaluate it using the evaluation form below.

Recommendations or Suggestions for improvement
I suggest that the makers must make the letters a little bigger and legible to the target
viewers since it is an elementary institution and immediately removed the unnecessary
announcements if it is already happened or done.

Based on your suggestions, make your board display lay-out. You may present your
output through any of these:
A hand-made drawing or layout
An electronic (computer) drawing/illustration or layout
A collage
ANALYZE
o What do you think was the purpose of the board displays?
o Did the board display design reflect the likes/interest of its target audience?
Why? Why not?
Yes, it is surely reflecting the likes/interest of the whole audience because the
information or the message is very convincing, the colors are eye catchy and most of
all, the prints are attractive and simple to understand. Thus, if the board display
design is kind of boring and too plain, target viewers will not be interested most
especially if the audience are kids. Thus, the makers should at least place colorful
materials and artistic designs that can catch their interest and holds attention. Prints
must attractive and simple to understand, as well as the message must also be
convincing.
o Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to
understand? Why? Why not?
Yes, because the words that are being used are appropriate to the level of
students. However, there are some words that aren't bold enough to be clearly seen.
There are also few words that need to be arranged properly to avoid confusion to the
thought of the sentence.
In order to come up with an effective and efficient board display, the teacher
must be:
2. Which of the skills do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making
board displays. How do you practice these skills?
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or
acquire these skills.
The skill that I need to improve is the choice of words to be used in the board
display to convey what is needed to be done. I made a mistake during my high school
years wherein the readers misinterpreted the meaning of my display due to
inappropriate words I used. So, the concrete solution in order to improve these skills
is to practice constantly through reading books and surfing on the internet to be able
to refine my vocabulary and grammar.

Learners should know how to respect their classmates. Teachers must also be able
to adjust smoothly in any certain situations happened from time to time. Since school is a
center of learning, so therefore, its safety standards should be tight to avoid accidents
inside the classroom and the campus itself. And lastly, every learner should be develop
and given equal attention during classes since they are expected to follow instructions
from their teachers.
“To be a teacher, in the right sense, is to be a teacher. Instruction begins when you,
the teacher, learn from the learner. Put yourself in his place so that you may understand
what he understands and in the way he understands it." —Anonymous
