Content Standards:
The learners demonstrate understanding of solid figures.
Performance Standard:
The learner is able to construct and describe the different figures: cube prism, pyramid, cylinder,
cone and sphere.
Competency:
The learners visualize and describe the different solid figure: cube prism, pyramid, cylinder, cone
and sphere using various concrete and pictorial models.
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After the class discussion and activities, the learners will be able to:
1. Visualize and describe the different solid figures;
2. Identify the faces, vertex and edges of a solid figures; and
3. Show care on the things inside and outside the classroom.
A. Routines
1. Greetings
2. Checking of attendance
3. Checking of School Uniform
B. Review
(Different Shapes)
What are the different shapes? Match the geometrical figure below.
In column A and B.
C. Motivation
Activity # 1 “Concentration Game."
1. Cube 2.
3. Rectangular prism 4.
5. Cylinder 6. Pyramid
7. Sphere 8.
9. 10. Cone
11. 12.
The learner will divide into 5 groups. Each group will have one representative. The
representative will choose 2 numbers then, if the word match with the drawing from
the chosen number, the group will earn points, if the chosen number are not the same
on the drawing at the bulletin, the group will lose.
If the contents of the numbers don't match, I will flip the cards again to show the
numbers. Then a player from another group chooses the next pair of numbers.
The group with the most number of correctly matched pairs wins.
D. Lesson Proper
The teacher let the guess what is the lesson for today.
The teacher play a short video clip and let the pupils watch the video attentively.
Geometry is a branch of mathematics that studies the sizes, shapes positions, angles,
and dimensions of things.
Polygon is a simple closed figure formed by the union of line segments.
Line segments forming polygon are called sides.
Point where two sides meet is called vertex.
Regular polygon has all sides equal in length and all the angles equal in
measures.
Irregular polygon can have sides of any length and angle can be of any
measures.
Solid Figures are figures that have three dimensions such as length, width and height.
5. Cone – is a three-dimensional objects that has a circular base joined by the point
by a curved size. The point is called a vertex.
6. Sphere – is a round solid figure, it is a curved surface of points that are all of the
same distance from the canter.
I will present a Paper Robot whose parts are made3 up of spatial figures.
Let us have group activity write your answer on Manila paper.
Identify the spatial figures represented by each part completing the chart below. I will
give you 5 minutes to answer then display your work.
Example:
Object
Basketball
Water jug
All examples given and mentioned were all about spatial figure or solid figure.
E. Generalization
F. Application
Activity # 2: What do you learned?
This is a Choco tree. As you can see, there are a lot of chocolate here. Do you
love to eat chocolate class? I will call you one by one, you’re going to choose a
number on our chocolate tree. Inside the chocolate there is a means of different
solid figure or spatial figure where you’re going to tell me if what kind of solid
figure it was. Is that clear?
Let’s start the game.
IV. EVALUATION
A. Draw in your notebook objects that resemble the following spatial figures
1) 2)
3) 4)
5)
B. Name the spatial figures that resemble the following objects below:
