Reflected ceiling
design and
coordination is a
core project element
that starts from the
beginning of the
design phase and
develops till the end
of the tender

submissions.

INTRODUCTION
WOODGROVE 3
BANK
DESIGN GUIDELINES
a. Material selection:

While choosing ceiling material, understanding its properties is of primary importance to determine
whether it will meet your requirements.
So it depends on:
1. The space function regarding: fire rating, sound attenuation, durability, etc….
2. The Geometry of space.
3. Location in plan (external or internal).
4. Maintenance at ceiling void regarding other disciplines.
5. Environment.
6. Availability in local country.
The most used materials in the making of false ceiling are:
- Gypsum false ceiling.
- Metal false ceiling.
- Wooden false ceiling.
- Mineral Fiber false ceiling. WOODGROVE 4

DESIGN GUIDELINES
a. Material selection:

Determine ceiling level according to:

1. Ceiling profile
2. Minimum clear height required for space.
3. Basic MEP requirements above ceiling.
4. Structural dropped beams in space.

b. Design criteria:

Some design criteria should be taken in consideration during the design stage of reflected ceiling in
plan:
1. Tiles distribution (600x600mm, 600x1200mm, etc…):
For example:
“ODD” No. OF TILES: Lighting fixtures are distributed on the 2 sides of the center line in the space.

b. Design criteria:

2. Gypsum board “BULK HEAD” surrounding tiles:

Some points you should take in consideration:
• Bulk head should be “EQUAL” around the tiles.
• Avoid creating tiles CUT-PIECES, when they are surrounded by a bulk head.
• Minimum size for Bulk head width in plan = 25cm:
a. To fix the electrical fixtures (if needed).
b. For bulk head fixation & maintenance.

Panel size: Width: 75mm to 300mm
Max. Length: 6000mm
