Closing gaps & What do I already know/do in this area?

I already know how to facilitate workshops to secondary school students as I am
knowledge currently a TPSmart facilitator. I also have knowledge about Budgeting as I attended
CITI SMU lecture and took the test on budgeting.

What new knowledge & skills will I need to complete this project?
New knowledge needed: How to play Game of $urvival (the game I will be hosting)

New Skills needed: Planning. Eg. The use of MSTEAMS/ZOOM, whether the students
are to play in groups or individually, also ensure the game is in Singapore setting so that
it is applicable to the students.

What possible challenges would I need to overcome for my learning project?

Due to Covid-19, we may have to shift the workshops to online. Hence, one challenge
that I will need to overcome is how to engage the students. Since it may shift to online,
some students may not participate in the game and just pretend to be online.

Evidence of Please ensure you have at least ONE evidence of learning for each of the stages.
e..g. Report, prototype, checklist, glossary of terms, reflection, draft designs, surveys, survey analyses,
Learning for my interview transcripts, etc. (50-100 words).
Learning e.g. New strategies for keeping better posture.

E-Portfolio PLAN stage: Plan a workshop programme flow together with the rest of the team and
how budgeting will flow together. (Regular meeting with the team to ensure our points
NEW are not repeated/overlapped.) Propose a detailed plan on any modifications to be made
to the game of survival or how to conduct this game as a group (could be played by 1
player only). Make any necessary adjustments to the programme flow to ensure that
there is a back-up plan should the workshop be unable to carry out face to face.

PERFORM stage: Programme flow chart of entire workshop. Execution of the

workshop. (5-10min presentation) Firstly, teach the students about budgeting concepts
using 50/30/20 rule, emergency funds, different accounts the bank offers and their
functions etc. Next, hosting the game. (est 20 min) Since there are 5 rounds to this
game, I will group them into 2 groups. (if there are 10 students, 2 groups of 5). There are
3 characters to this game. Azri, a new full-timer, the Tan family who have 2 children and
Saras who is a senior executive. The main aim of this game is to ensure that each
character stays within their budget while spending on necessary/unnecessary items by
the end of the 5 rounds. (Each student will get a chance to make the decision / play
the game for each round. Each student will have a chance to participate as there
will be a total of 15 rounds) Hence, the first group to manage to get at least 2 characters
to stay within their budget wins this game. Take note if there are any difficulties in
understanding the game and note down if the students are able to use the game to
reinforce the idea of budgeting.

MONITOR stage: Consult my facilitator on my budgeting slides and take into account
for any changes to be made. Trail run of the game with my other 2 peers and facilitator
to ensure the game is suitable and the duration of the game is fitting. After the workshop,
get the student’s contact numbers and contact them. Ask them if they used the
budgeting skills that were taught during the workshop in their daily lives eg
50/30/20 rule.

REFLECT stage: After receiving feedbacks from my facilitator and peers, look out for
room for improvement. I can do this by producing a report or a journal to record my
learning from this facilitating experience and from there, make adjustments to how I
can improve this workshop for the next batch of students who will be participating in
this programme.
