EQUIPMENT
 Check compressor and motor oil levels and top up
as required. (For petrol powered motor and
electric powered compressors).
PRE-OPERATIONAL SAFETY CHECKS
 Refer to operator manual.
 Examine power lead for obvious damage (for
electric motor compressors)
 Start the compressor noting the pressure gauge
increase and the cut-in / cut-out pressure levels.
 Adjust the pressure regulator to suit the particular
work requirements.
 Always check these pressures at regular intervals
during normal operation.
OPERATIONAL SAFETY PROCEDURES  Air hose connections must be secured and
checked prior to being pressurized.
 If portable, position the compressor unit in an area
that will not disturb or obstruct the workshop
environment.
 Never kink or cut off an air hose to restrict the
flow of air.
 Switch off the power to the machine when
work is completed.
POST OPERATION  Clean up all debris using a brush and dispose
of appropriately.
 Put away all accessories and tooling.

housings
 Hoses – rubs, wear, kinks, or movement
Operation - jerky or erratic
 Check the operation and condition of
equipment before use.
 Check for hydraulic fluid leaks - report to
PI.
 Ensure column pins are fully engaged
after adjusting height.
 Carefully align work under press for even
force to be applied.
 Do NOT apply excessive force.
 Do not exceed the maximum pressure
indicated on the hydraulic press.
 Keep hands/fingers away from all clamping
and moving parts.

 Visually check for oil and grease from
bearings.
 Technician to examine the starter switch ,
fuses and tighten loose connections
 Distinguish live parts from other parts of
the electrical system.
 Determine the voltage of live parts.
 Understand the minimum approach
distances outlined for specific live line
voltages.
 Ensure proper use of special safety
equipment and procedures when working
near, or on, exposed energized parts of an
electrical system
