ACTIVITY 2:
1. In your own opinion, how important is cell type identification in the field of
medicine?
- Cell type identification is important in the field of medicine because it allows researchers to
better understand how cells work and thus develop new vaccines and more effective
medicines.
2. What are the cell types that can be found in urine and what are the diseases they indicate?
- The urinary tract is lined by three types of epithelial cells. Transitional cells, renal tubular
cells, and squamous cells are all names of these cells. If you find squamous epithelial cells in
your urine, it could indicate that your sample was contaminated. The medicinal condition they
indicate are urinary infection tract (UTI) may be indicated by “moderate” or “many” cells.
Yeast infection and kidney failure.
3. What do you think is the basis of doctors in claiming that the presence of white blood cells in
urine may suggest urinary tract infection? Relate your explanation with the function of
white blood cells?
- Leukocytes, also known as white blood cells, are the cells that fight germs to prevent
infection; however, there are too many leukocytes, the urinary tract may suffer.
REFLECTION:
I learned that cell type identification, is important in the field of medicine.
I enjoyed most answering the activities
I want to learn more on the diseases that causes infection.
