Understanding The Self Reviewer For Midterms
Understanding The Self Reviewer For Midterms
I. Sexual Self
a) The sexual self can be expressed in so many ways such as:
i. Sports
ii. Conversations
iii. Giving oneself in service of others
b) It is false to believe that the sexual self is expressed only by our EROGENOUS ZONES
c) Masturbation is not immoral per se, but what is immoral is the thought of the one doing it.
LUST is not healthy and can be a psychological disorder, though there is no exact
psychological diagnosis of the same. This is well within the ambit of public morals that
excessiveness of the act implies addiction and can cause setbacks of the self’s true
potential.
d) Sexual intercourse/coitus is the insertion of the penis to the vagina. It is a sacred and
spiritual act and not just a mere biological mechanism of the human body so, it is regarded
as a divine act. It is suppose to be an emblem of COMMITMENT. If one is just doing it for
mere satisfaction of lust or for fun, hence it becomes immoral and degraded to a lower
level, as in more like a “hand shake”of new acquaintances and nothing more.
II. Material and Economic self
a) The Material self is composed of the BODY, CLOTHES, IMMEDIATE FAMILY, and HOME--
respectively in that order.
b) Material self is synonymous with corporeal self.
c) When it comes to the economic self, it is important to remember the cash flow quadrant
where it illustrates the different modes of earning money. The quadrants are:
i. Employee- works for money
ii. Self-employed-works for money
iii. Business owner-Has leverage; and uses other peoples money, time and skills; an ideal
prelude before becoming an investor.
iv. Investor- Uses money to build or establish more assets that puts money into his
pocket; one possess little to no liabilities in this quadrant.
III. Spiritual Self
Religion: By definition, religion is a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes,
beliefs, and practices; the service and worship of God or the supernatural.

larger than you; living everyday life in a reverent and sacred manner.

experience their connectedness to the moment, to self, to others, to nature, and to the
significant or sacred."
