Assessment 1
Direction: Briefly explain why poor people are the so called most vulnerable to disasters.

 Poor people are the so called most vulnerable to disasters because of their lack in emergency
necessities and also because of their inability to adapt when disasters occur. People who are wealthier
have better access to the kinds of resources that help both prevent bigger impacts of natural disasters
and to cope up with them when they occur.
Assessment 2
Directions:
1.) Why is the country Philippines prone to earthquake, typhoons, floods, and volcanic eruptions?
 The Philippines is prone to earthquake, typhoons and other natural disasters. This is due to its location
along the Ring of Fire, or typhoon belt- large pacific ocean region where many of Earth’s volcanic
eruptions and earthquakes occur. In fact, Philippines is the most exposed country to tropical storms in
the world.

2.) Do you think our country (Philippines) has the ability to manage or mitigate the impacts of natural
hazard? Why?
 Yes! I believe that the Philippines, being one of the world’s most naturally deadly countries, due to its
location along the Ring of Fire, has the ability to manage or mitigate the impacts of natural hazards.
Eduardo del Rosario, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that we are
improving in terms of disaster preparedness and resilience, and he also said that in the next few years,
we’ll be able to say that we are competent enough and we are prepared.
