HISTORY OF BARANGAY SOUTH SEPAKA

In 1955, the South Sepaka was created by way of Sopronio Divinagracia the
“First Teniente del Barrio” in which the Barangay School Buildings were developed in a
Bayanihan way.

The Barangay South Sepaka originated from an ilonggo word means “SEPAK”
in English term to “SEPARATE”. It is called to separate because the Barangay South
Sepaka is between two rivers, the Allah River and the Sepaka River, located in the
Southern part of the Province of Sultan Kudarat; bounded on the North by the
Municipality of Sto. Nino; on the South by the Barangay of South Sepaka on the east by
the Municipality of Surallah and on the west by the Barangay Bai Saripinang.

Long before, the South Sepaka belongs to the Municipality of Banga. However,
with the creation of the Municipality of Bagumbayan, the South Sepaka became a
Barangay and called “BARANGAY SOUTH SEPAKA”. On 1956, Municipality of
Bagumbayan recognized that Brgy. South Sepaka belongs to their Municipality instead
of Municipality of Banga.

Sopronio Divinagracia end his term as “1st Teniente del Barrio” since 1955-1959
for almost 4 years in service. In 1959, Ricardo Alocada appointed as “2nd Teniente del
Barrio” of Barangay South Sepaka for a year.

In 1960, was the first time that the selected Barangay Captain elected by way of
voting through Local Elections of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and “JOSE
SOLAS” was elected as the “Punong Barangay” in his “First Term” together with his
OIC namely; Martin Fantilanan, Prudencio Cam, Ludegari Harnero and etc. After a
year, Brgy. Captain Jose Solas decided to run for the position of Barangay Captain for
the second time and he won as Punong Barangay of South Sepaka together with his
Officer-in-Charge (OIC) who won during election named: Godofredo Fantilanan,
Warlito Sologastua, Reynaldo Castro, Raul Ignes, Rogelio Tarrazona and Patricio
Pachejo. During his term, the Elementary School Building with the help of the Settlers,
PTA and members were constructed on C.Y 1964. Wherefore, on 1965, Barangay
Captain Jose Solas established Barangay Road through Manual Labor and created the
existing Puroks/Sitios of the Barangay.

In 1978, the construction of Solar Dryer in Sitio Balite of Barangay South Sepaka,
and Installation of Jet Matic Pump/Artesian well at South Sepaka Elementary School
we’re established.

In 1980, was the last term of Jose Solas as Barangay Captain and he served the
Barangay for almost 20 years in Civil Service. During his term, he pursues to implement
disarming of the CHBH by the lawless element on year 1984, he moved for construction
of Barangay Health Center in every Puroks and Sitio on 1990. In 1996, He develops
and creates another Purok which they called “Purok Tagumpay”, he starts to
reconstruct New Barangay Hall and Solar Dryer at Purok Acacia, he made propose
project at Sitio Balite such as “DAY CARE CENTER”.

When Local Elections comes, Rodolfo Solas run for the First time as Barangay
Captain for the same Barangay and won without opponent on year 1997. He made
another projects that South Sepaka become better, by way of Construction of Concrete
fence surrounding the Barangay Plaza, Electrification of all Purok and Sitios and
Construction of Day Care Centers at Purok Acacia and San Isidro all of this project
propose on year 1998.

In 1999, Barangay Captain Rodolfo Solas propose a resolution for Construction


of Solar Dryers in Purok Sambag and Purok Acacia.

He end his term on year 2007 as Barangay Captain because he run for
Sangguniang Bayan Member of Municipality of Bagumbayan but he did not won during
the election but for most, he served Barangay South Sepaka for almost 18years in Civil
Service since 1997 to 2007.

Therefore, in 2007 Local Elections, when Rodolfo Solas end his term, Audy
Anthony S. Gacho, nephew of Rodolfo Solas, decided to run for the position of
Barangay Chairman of South Sepaka, but before he run as Punong Barangay, he start
as Barangay Kagawad in the line-up of Rodolfo Solas and he serve for almost 10 years
in Civil Service from 1997-2007. He continue to serve his constituents when he won as
Barangay Captain for almost 11 years in Civil Service since 2007 up to Calendar Year
2018 but during his term he moved a project proposal such as Re-construct of New
Barangay Hall, Barangay Gymnasium and VAWC Building beside Barangay Hall of
South Sepaka.

In May 2018 Local Elections comes, Gildie Fantilanan run for the position of
Barangay Captain his opponent during that time is Rex Bingco, but Gildie F. Fantilanan
won the desire position in which he elected as 4 th Barangay Chairman of Barangay
South Sepaka together with the elected Barangay Kagawad’s namely:

They pursue to implement the Senior Citizen Building of South Sepaka in front of
Health Center.
They made hard for the beautification of Barangay South Sepaka, such as road
widening and clearing, Solar Street Lights, Gymnasium of Sitio Balite, the satellite
market which they called “TALIPAPA”, Street signage, and other propose projects
coming to make Barangay South Sepaka highly appreciated and make better
improvement, in which, the active Barangay Council do their best and responsibilities for
their constituents from their own strength, capacity and knowledge, to those
constituents who believes in their skills and talents. Talents that what South
