I. Introductory Concept

Over-the-counter and prescription medicines are both essential to one’s health and well-being
when taken properly. When abused and misused, they can alter body functions and processes and can
produce negative effects that can put a person’s life at risk. You should carefully choose the medicine based
on its type/ classification and usage. Labels/ instructions about the medicine should be read and understand
carefully before taking medicines.

The following exercises/activities will gauge your understanding on the concept about the
classification of medicines and its uses.
