Points to Ponder:
Do you love drinking coffee? Nescafe’s inspirational punch line became popular in the past
years as it was always repeated in television commercials. Nescafe is intelligent in using the
phrase “Para kanino ka bumabangon?” in their “Bangon” ad to stimulate their audience not
only about their product but also the impact of this phrase on the people listening and
watching the commercials. The line does not only focus on the act of waking up, but on
purpose, a person has to wake up, create wonderful and happy memories, and create a
difference in the lives of other people. So today, answer the question:
1. Para kanino ka bumabangon?
2. What are the reasons behind your answer to the inspirational punch line of Nescafe?
3. What impact do they have in your life?

Task 2: GLANCE FROM THE PAST

Last month the focused value was obedience, and you were able to do various tasks that
translate obedience to family, authority, and God. Classify the statements below if it shows an
act of obedience or not. Put a checkmark (✓) on the space provided before the number if the
statement shows an act of obedience.

of obedience? Why?
3. There is a statement that says, “Progress is not possible without discipline. A nation,
family, or individual can advance only by heeding the words of those who deserve
respect and by obeying the appropriate rules and regulations. Children, obedience is not
weakness. Obedience with humility leads to disciple.” What does the statement mean?
In what way does obedience will help you to become excellent?
Task 3: TRUE or FALSE
Directions: Write True if the statement reflects the value of excellence and False if it is not.

she knows that she can still improve her work, so she made some changes that she
thinks will make her work more presentable.
______ 2. Mr. Dela Cruz has been a teacher for more than ten years. While some of his
colleagues pursued further studies to improve their position, Mr. Dela Cruz remained
his rank. For him, what is important is not the position as long as you have work.
______ 3. Born from a less-privileged family, Andrew dreamed of becoming a successful person.
Thus, even if it’s hard to be a working student in the evening, he always tries his best
to attend his class despite not having enough sleep.

the character in the items with an answer of True exhibit excellence?
b. In what skill or field do you like to be recognized as excellent? Why?
c. What makes excellence an important value to develop? How does the value of
excellence will help you, your family, and your community?

Task 4: COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

The title of the task is “Count your Blessings,” which is also a song sang in church. The
lyrics of the song is provided below. You can also listen to the song using the link provided
below.
When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold.
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your Lord on high.
So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
