1.0 Introduction:
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has awarded job to International Quality
Management services (P) Ltd Faridabad (IQMS) for carrying out Underground tank inspection
Bijwasan Location in India as scope provide by BPCL and OISD STD 129 guidelines. IQMS
carried out tank inspection (i.e. visual inspection & NDT) based on communication received from
BPCL.

Underground Horizontal cylindrical storage tank inspection for the tank no. 32 was performed at
BPCL Bijwasan on dated 30.12.2021 Visual inspection & NDT for the tank was performed as per
the requirement of scope of work.

 The analysis has been performed for a specific tank as per requirement of the IQMS
Client/contractor within the scope of the contractor, documents submitted and does
not perpetuate into compliance to any statutory regulations and /or codes of any
country/region.

1.3 Assumptions:
 This report made on the basis of information made available by the client.
 Present report is based on the reference documents mention in clause no 1.3 of this
report.
 On request, BPCL should provide more information to IQMS time to time. We will
happy to revise our report based on the same.
 Condition assessment of tank, determine corrosion rate is based on the details made
available to IQMS, present visual inspection and NDT results.

ULTRASONIC THICKNESS TESTING OF UG TANK NO.32

MODE OF INSPECTION:- ULTRASONIC THICKNESS TESTING


ACCEPTANCE CRETERIA:- OISD STD 129 (ASTM E 797)

Thickness measurement of the UG Tank no. 32 has been carried out at BPCL
Bijwasan on dated 30.12.2021 Measurement thickness has been taken with the
Calibrated Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge.

Horizontal underground cylindrical tank at both dish end plate observed


thickness is acceptable limit. Dish end average thickness is 9.8 mm against
minimum required thickness 9.5 mm.

All Shell plate average thickness 9.4 mm has been taken within area 16 times of
original thickness as per clause no. 12 of OISD STD 129 on top & bottom shell of
Horizontal cylindrical Tank.

Minimum acceptable thickness tolerance is 5 % of nominal wall thickness as per


IS 1852 clause no. 7.3, (Reference of IS 1852 is given in IS 2062)
OISD STD 129 refers to IS 10987 for code of practice for design, fabrication,
testing and installation of underground /above ground horizontal cylindrical steel
storage tank for petroleum products. IS 10987 refer to IS 2062 for material.

Advice:- In overall views, horizontal cylindrical tank is found satisfactory & fit for
further use in similar application.
