experts from the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) by synergizing
talented technical university and successful businessman from industry. It was
incorporated with the Malaysian Registrar of Companies on the 19th September
2016. Our mission is to provide good quality services using local university
experts and our vision is to be the leading company in providing quality services

Chairman
Mr. Zailani Mansor, Dip. Eng. (Mechanical) is the Founder and Managing Director of Preston
Shipyard Sdn. Bhd. He was in the engineering department when he served Malaysian Navy
13 year ago. En. Zailani Mansur was born in Muar Johor. He is an important asset in this
company since he has wide business knowledge and networking. As the Managing Director
of Preston Shipyard Sdn. Bhd., he is known as a leader who deliver the task within the
schedule and never late. His company was awarded by several International bodies such as
Quality Award.

Ir .Dr. Saiful Azhar Ahmad Tajudin, PhD (Geotechnics), M.Eng (Civil Eng.), B.Eng (Civil
Eng.). He is an expert in in the field of geotechnics and geoenvironment. He is also
active in consultancy work especially on- site investigation (SI), soil slope design and
analysis, geophysics exploration, water and soil treatment for geoenvironment and
groundwater resource as well as tube well installation. He publishes several good impact
journals and has a wide experience in civil engineering works

Dr. Aziman Madun is our Professional Geologist (PG0461) and currently has been
appointed as our executive director. He is one of the members in Board of
Geologist Malaysia (BoG), Geological Society of Malaysia (GSM) and Institute of
Geology Malaysia. He has more than 11 years teaching experience especially
geology related subjects in the university and involved in several ground water
detection and investigation consultation projects. He also published a book
entitled “Green Building, Materials and Civil Engineering”.

GEOPHYSIC RESISTIVITY MAPPING
Preston GeoCem Sdn Bhd is actively involved 2D and 3D mapping is used to

detect the presence of water location and also the depth. Consultancy
services are also provided in order to detect the presence of minerals such
as clay, kaolin and graphite. Besides that, comprehensive report is also
provided by our company which was endorsed by our Professional Geologist
as required by the Geology Act 2008.

SEISMIC MAPPING
In-situ test is used in our seismic test to evaluate soil properties with undisturbed
condition and also less disturbance towards material. Advantage of minimal material
disturbance can be obtained by using direct measurement of soil or rock stiffness at
field. Besides that, testing undisturbed soil in the real field condition with the actual
effective stress and drainage condition is one of the advantages for geophysical test.
Invasive and non-invasive techniques are two methods of in-situ test. The invasive
techniques can be divided into three which are downhole, uphole and cross hole
while the non-invasive techniques also can be divided into three which are spectral
analysis of surface wave (SASW) method, multichannel analysis of surface wave
(MASW) method and also seismic refraction method.
Geophones are used to measured seismic waves which can be arranged in straight
line for 2D seismic or over the whole area for 3D seismic. The output of the
geophones is sent as an analogue or digital signal to the recording unit depending on
the acquisition system.

GROUND PENETRATION RADAR
Ground penetration data is used to study bedrock, soils and groundwater.

Besides that, it is also used for gold and diamond detection in alluvial gravel
beds by detecting area with potential for accumulating heavier particles by
finding natural traps in buried stream beds.
Ground penetration radar is widely used in many area of study such as

engineering, environmental remediation, archaeology and also military. In
terms of engineering, it is used for locating buried structures, utility lines and
also for studying soils and bedrock. Next, it is used to defined landfills and
contaminant plumes in terms of environmental remediation. For
archaeological, it is always used for detecting and mapping archaeological
features and cemeteries.

MAPPING

TERRAIN MAPPING
Our terrain mapping service includes Geographic Information

System (GIS) and slope analysis required by the authority such as
Jabatan Mineral Geosains (JMG) and Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia
(JKR). A terrain map shows an area of land divided into terrain map
units defined by similar elevation, slope, landform, rock exposure,
surficial material type and thickness. Below are some of the process
for terrain mapping:
1. Plan preparation and analysis of previous project
2. Preliminary air photo, satellite or other image interpretation (in
3 dimensions) and creation of draft polygon linework (with
polygon attributes) and on-site symbols (landslide tracks)
3. Field work is done to ensure the truth preliminary mapping
4. Mapping on the images will be revised and finalized
5. Digitization, database creation and map production
6. Geographic setting, methodology used, assumptions and
criteria used and other information about the project and how
the terrain map should be interpreted and used all will be
described in the project report

SOIL AND ROCK SLOPE ANALYSIS DESIGN
In civil engineering, soil and rock slope analysis

include transportation system such as highway
and railway, dams for power production and water
supply, industrial and urban development. Our

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT
We provide the environmental impact assessment (EIA) as required

by the Jabatan Alam Sekitar (JAS) to analyse the impact of ground
water extraction to the environment. The Environmental Impact
Assessment (EIA) was introduced as mandatory in Malaysia since
1988 as a measurement tool to achieve sustainable development.
The advantage of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) are help
in environmental planning and design of a proposal, ensure that
compliance with environmental standard, saving in operating cost
and also reduce time and cost for approval development
applications.

TRAFFIC IMPACT ASSESSMENT
We provide the Traffic Impact Assesment (TIA) which is a continuation

from environmental impact assesment process (EIA), as required by the
Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) or local authorities to examine development
impact. TIA is a tool to protect the reliability of the transportation
system by supporting sustainable expansion for the advantage of all
users. Below are some of the process in Traffic Impact Assessment
(TIA):
1. Review and understanding on proposed development.

2. Identify the area of the proposed development.
3. Identify existing traffics.
4. Generate site and layout plans.
5. Identify trip generation.
6. Conducting impact analysis.

TUBEWELL PUMPING TEST AND LOG
Preston GeoCEM have a lot of experience

handling pumping test and log for tube
well reports for JMG especially in eastern
region and also Johor. There are 3
methods will be used which are step-
down test, constant-rate test and
recovery test to inspect the water flow
rate pattern, percentage of tube well
efficiency, rate of constant discharge and
recovery for the tube well. Data will be
match with the environmental aspects
such as the rainfall, river and sea water
level to find the correlation. Log will be
made based on the sample collected
during the tubewell drilling process.

SOIL INVESTIGATION
A site investigation is the process of

collection information, appraisal of data,
assessment, and reporting in which the
hazards in the ground beneath the site are
not known. Our experts can advise and
provide good quality of site investigation
data. Below are some of the objectives for

GROUND WATER SYSTEM (TUBEWELL)
We do design and build for ground water solution including the tubewell
design, drilling, 72 hours pumping test which include step draw down test,
constant test and recovery test and water quality test. Our expert will advise
the suitability of tubewell either using shallow well, deep well or riverbank
infiltration depending on the purpose and location.

WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
We do design and build for cost effective water treatment system for
surface water and ground water using new and simple technology. Our
water treatment system can save cost, space and reduce a lot of
maintenance cost. Material used for filtration comply with the ‘Raw Water
Quality Standard’ by Malaysia Health Ministry.
