Guidelines to Understand and Fill in Meta-curricular Experience Form

What is meta-curricular experience?

Your meta-curricular experience represents the activities and the learning opportunities you participated
in outside the classroom. Meta-curricular experience may include the following

1. Participation and learning from Co-curricular activities such as debate, dramas, sports, MUNs,
singing, dancing, painting, writing etc.

2. Participation and learning from Community Service or Voluntary work such as initiatives taken
to help people and communities around you, find ways to better the environment, raise
awareness for important issues and other activities which may support your community and
society.

3. Participation and learning from Work experience such as internships, part-time jobs, private
tutoring, running your own organization/project or any other free-lance work.

Why is meta-curricular experience form important?

Habib University values your personal pursuits, passions and co-curricular involvement. The
meta-curricular experiences form helps us in getting to know you beyond your academics and assess
your leadership skills, commitment towards your society in terms of community services and your
unique talents. It would also help your application to stand out from the rest.

How to fill out the meta-curricular experience form?

The form has two sections i.e. Section A and Section B

Section A:
In the section A, you need to provide information elaborating upon your participation in meta-curricular
activities while keeping the following guidelines in mind
● You may have participated in lots of activities but you need to select the best five activities to share
with us in this form. You may choose to share less than five also.
● You can select activities from any area i.e. your co-curricular experience, community
service/voluntary work and work experience depending upon your experience.
● You need to select activities from your O level/A level or grade 9-12 education period
● You can select activities for which you may not have any certificate of participation.
● Provide all the required details of selected activities as highlighted in the attached form

Section B
In Section B, you can provide details about any unique skill/talent you possess, how you acquired them
and how you have used them so far. For example, the ability to play a musical instrument, speak multiple
languages, write poetry, or your passion for photography or any other craft or skill you possess.

How to make your meta-curricular experience form stronger using a work

portfolio?
A work portfolio is a personalized collection of your professional and personal work. For example, if you
have a passion for photography or have participated in any event on a professional basis, you can
showcase your photographs in the portfolio or if you have developed a project and want to display your
work, a portfolio can carry a description of your work along with pictorial evidences. Submitting a
portfolio can strengthen your meta-curricular experiences form.

When should you submit your meta-curricular experiences form?

Make sure to submit your meta-curricular experiences form before or by the day when your interview is
scheduled.

Activity # 1
Community service throughout school year
Throughout my school years I have
1) Led a group of 100 students as house captain to raise funds during fund
raising for a ngo that promotes education for the underprivileged. Grade
10
2) Taught Mathematics and English to the underprivileged students and led
team building activities at TCF and baithak Grade 10-11
3) A community engagement project where I was responsible for teaching
and conducting workshops for the janitorial staff at my school during AS-A2
I obviously obtained the insights one gets from engaging in any sort of community
service. The empathy and consideration of everyone around me, I try to reflect in
my every thought and action. With covid the world has proven to me humanity has
always came out strong if we look out for each other from time to time.

Activity # 2
Creative developer at a digital agency in grade 9 for a few months.
Interned at a startup firm where I was responsible for front-end web development,
videos and posters for clients as well as for writing content.
It polished my programming & media skills and helped me provide quality work for
professional clients.

Activity # 3
Public speaking (MUN Parlis etc)
Participating in MUNs Parlis and generally public speaking events throughout
school. I’ve won awards at competitive competitions and have trained students
when I was the public speaking head. Also organized my schools first ever open
house declamation contest from scratch with my team with minimal school staff
involvement.
The confidence and eloquence of public speaking has surely changed me as a
person. From simply being informed of global affairs to addressing and leading
teams, the critical thinking edge and ability to network will aid me the most in my
career.
Awards: 4 MUN awards. First in a school parli. Semi finalist in NU FEST parli.
Acknowledgements: Organizers of the declamation contest. Selected as the public
speaking head in grade 11.

I was a TA in school and college and after school I do community service and teach
my college staff and underprivileged students at TCF and baithak as a part of my
adult-literacy society. Now I do paid tuition for O/A level subjects.
Being my second passion (music’s still first) the insight I have being on the other
side of the classroom has definitely given me the dynamic advantage in building
relationships with my teachers and understanding concepts at the level the were
formed.
