Student Admission Process (2021-2022)

Edinburg CISD is proud to have all of its four High Schools designated as Early College High Schools by the
Texas Education Agency. We welcome all first time 9th grade students to complete the attached student
application for consideration to be admitted into the Early College High School Program.
Only 125 ECHS incoming 9th grade students will be admitted to each Early College High School per year.

As part of the recruitment and admissions process, each Early College High School
academy/program will consider the following student criteria and academic performance:

(1) students who will be first year 9th Graders;

(2) students who demonstrate academic commitment;
(3) students who have good attendance and behavior record;
(4) students who have good work ethic and study habits;
(5) students must be residents of the Edinburg CISD attendance boundary;
(6) students must have completed Section I, II, and III of the ECHS student application:

Section III Middle School Information by Counselor and;
(7) turn in COMPLETED application to the 8th grade counselor by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2021.

Applications that are NOT complete will not be considered for review.

As an ECISD ECHS parent, I will adhere to the following guidelines to ensure my son/daughter is successful in the academy/program:

• Attendance is very important. Please ensure your son/daughter is in school unless he/she is ill;
• Provide daily time (2-3 hours) to son/daughter to do homework;
• Monitor your son/daughter’s grades weekly and provide assistance or communicate any concerns to staff if they are experiencing any
difficulty in courses;
• Students are highly encouraged to share with their parent/legal guardian their progress in their college courses.
• Attend Fall and Spring evening parent meetings;
• Be available for conferences as needed;
• Provide your son/daughter access to a computer/internet to complete assignments;
• Be aware and consent to the exposure of your son/daughter’s college instructional materials/environment at all times and understand your
son/daughter’s college curriculum will follow the STC approved curriculum and CENSORING of any approved curriculum material will
not be made;
• Support your son/daughter in any school or community involvement event when possible.
