Week 5:

Dear Diary,
Monday morning, we had double art where we continued drawing our self-
portraits. This week I began by drawing the eyes on the portrait and it turned out
really well. Next, I moved on to the nose but I didn’t get to finish it, that’s ok
because I will get to do it at home. Its slowly beginning to look like me which is a
really good sign. I might actually finish it next week, but we shall see.
After break, we had Coding where we continued writing up some Python. We are
writing up some code on Scratch and then transferring into Python. I actually
began creating my own Mario game in my spare time and its looking good so far.
It’s hard but it’s nothing that I can’t handle. The important thing is that I enjoy
creating it.
Next, we had Mathematics where we continued learning how to solve more
complex Log equations. Then in Thursday’s class we were given a worksheet to
complete which was to solve the equations on triangles and then stick the triangle
with the answer for the equation on to the triangle that had the question. Hopefully
that makes sense, but just in case there is a picture of the worksheet on the right. It
was fun to do but it was hard finding the answers and sometimes you would lose
some of the pieces that had the questions on them.
After lunch we had Siamsa were continued with our unit worksheets, and I am
almost done them which is really good. Then we didn’t have Siamsa class on
Thursday because of the “Hair Care Workshop” that we participated in.
Last class we had English where we finished our movie. Unfortunately, we didn’t
start another movie because we didn’t have enough time. Instead, we reviewed the
first movie that we watched, which was “The Help”. We looked at a PowerPoint
that showed us the main themes of the movie. It was a really good thing to recap
because I had forgotten some key scenes. We continued reading the PowerPoint
during Fridays class, meaning we went into more detail of the characters.

Tuesday morning, we had Computer Studies where I finished my second

diagnostic test for Spreadsheets. Yay finally. Then on Wednesday’s class I
completed the cert test and it went surprisingly well, I passed. Now I have to start
training for Computer Essentials, which sounds fun.
Afterwards we left school again to go to skiing! Sadly, I am still practicing on the
small slope but the coach says that I am very close to moving on to the bigger
slope, which I am nervous to do but also very excited. I hope next week I will start
on the bigger one. This class we focused on turning but it was very difficult to do
because it was very windy and it affected our turning. It was still really fun though.
During the class, the lift on the side of the slope so we had to walk sideways up the
slope which was really sore, eventually they fixed it and we were able to go up
nicely. Unfortunately, we only have two classes left but that’s ok because I had a
lot of fun during this module and I hope to be skiing again very soon.

Wednesday morning, we had Home Economics where we cooked some Paprika

Chicken. Yummy. I was scared for cooking this dish because of the fear that I
would burn something, but thank God I didn’t in the end. I really like the whole
process of cooking the food I thought it was pretty simple. The only thing I didn’t
enjoy was cutting up the chicken breasts. It didn’t feel good at all. When I took it
home my family really enjoyed it and they wanted me to cook it again someday.
The only thing was that the dish was low on salt so I added some at home.

After break we had religion where we continued researching because next week,
we will be presenting our projects. Mine is going so well and I hope everyone
enjoys it next week.

Thursday morning, we had French where we again continued doing our project. I
was finding our tickets while my friend was looking for accommodation. She
found a very nice hotel in Paris looking at the Eiffel Tower and I found reasonably
priced flight tickets on Ryanair. Then we were both looking up activities we can
do. One of them was of course Disneyland but we were also looking at what shows
there are in Disney and how much extra do they cost. They were expensive but we
have no budget, so we can do whatever we want. We didn’t have Fridays class
because of the magic workshop.
For the next two classes after break, we had the hair care workshop where you can
read all about it in the experiences page, but here’s a little summary. We had to
copy the same hairstyles she did and they were really hard to do. From all of them
I only managed to complete one. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the workshop but that’s ok
because there are many more great ones to come.
After lunch we had Self-defense where the teacher wasn’t in so instead, we had a
substitute who played dodge ball with us. It was fun but the teacher had very
different rules to the game which we didn’t know, that made it kind of unfair but
we still had fun. My team won a few times as well and in the last game we played
against the teacher and successfully we beat him.

Friday morning, we had First Aid, where we learned about injures and wounds.
This was very interesting to learn but my friend didn’t enjoy as much because she
doesn’t like the site of cuts and blood, fortunately for her the teacher didn’t show
any. He said next week we will be learning how to wrap up an injury on your body
and I can’t wait to wrap my friend’s arm or leg. We will also get free first aid kits
that include plasters and bandages, so at home, for fun I will wrap up my sister’s
arm, if she lets me though.
Next, we had Careers Guidance where we were looking at some further education
courses and what subjects you can take there. It was good to know that there is a
second plan if you didn’t get into your desired college.
After break we had double enterprise where we continued making our projects on
our Hemp Plastic Bottles. It’s starting to look very professional so far. I just hope
the judge likes the idea as much as we do. We also had a zoom meeting with the
main person in the competition and he was showing us other projects that had
succeeded in the past. It was very interesting to look at them and see what other
people had come up with. He also gave us a few tips which were very helpful.
For the last two classes we participated in a Magic workshop and it was so fun.
The host was really funny and he showed us some cool and simple magic tricks.

Write again next week.
