_______ Oh, what a beautiful Moth am I!

_______ Colors so bright, and sparkling each eye,

_______ Nobody ever would guess, I ween,

_______ I once was a Caterpillar all in green.

_______ I've taken me feathers of brightest hue,

_______ With silver and gold I have decked me too:

_______ No, no! you never would guess, I ween,

_______ I once was a Caterpillar all in green.

_______ With a tardy foot no longer I crawl

_______ 'Neath the shady leaves, or on ivied wall;

_______ But, joyously floating in airy height,

_______ I wander abroad in the pale moonlight;
