NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORT ON LEARNERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS


(LSEN) VIRTUAL PARENTS ORIENTATION
SEPTEMBER 8, 2021

I. INTRODUCTION:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the usual face-to-face learning


delivery modality is not yet allowed. Hence, the Department of Education
(DepEd) will be resorting to distance learning delivery modalities as possible
means for the continuation of education this School Year 2021-2022, where
parents and other responsible adults in the community as learning facilitators
are expected to help learners cope with the new learning environment.
To ensure Parents and Learning facilitators are well informed on their
important roles for effective, efficient, and safe implementation of the modular
learning modality in Jalajala Elementary School. All Grade Levels including
SPED an ALS are advised to conduct Virtual Parents Orientation on their
respective grade levels about learning modality especially their role,
responsibilities, and support in the implementation from September 7-8, 2021.

II. OBJECTIVES

The Virtual Parents Orientation aims the following objectives.


 To provide an in-depth discussion on School learning continuity plan.
 Instill strong commitment on the roles of Parents and their responsibilities
 Deepen understanding on Flowchart of the Distribution and Retrieval of
printed modules
 To ensure Health and safety protocols in the distribution and retrieval of
learning modules
III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

This virtual orientation is for ensuring parents of learner w/ Special


needs are well informed about the School Learning Continuity plan, the
collaborative role of teacher and parents on their Children education progress,
the process of Distribution and Retrieval of printed SLMs. This is spearheaded
by the Class Grade leader of Special Education Mrs. Rosan M. Bassig with
the support of two Class adviser Mr. Allan Paul A. Panis, and Mrs. Thelma C.
Estrella under the Supervision of School principal Mrs. Mary Ann A. Rubio.

The orientation formally starts with a short prayer and nationalistic song
in a form of Audio-Visual presentation. This was followed by the warm
welcome remarks by Mrs. Mary Ann A. Rubio, Principal of Jalajala ES.

In her message, Mrs. Mary Ann acknowledges the effort of parents to


joined and participate on the said activity. She also stated the importance of
attending Virtual orientation as it would give them ideas on how to properly
guide their children in dealing with Distance learning particularly to Modular
learning. She also encouraged the parents to never get tired of supporting
and guiding their kids to ensure learning despite the pandemic.

Then, Mrs. Rosan Bassig proceeded to the orientation proper, she


mentioned the Modular Distance Learning as generally adopted for the School
Learning Modality that most parents chose according to survey. Next was,
Parents role for the children education. She Advised to constantly guide their
children in answering SLMs and encourage them to let their children answer
the activity on their own as much as possible to make learning more
meaningful for them. Next discussion was given by Mr. Allan Paul, He
reiterated the programs of Division of Rizal, the BRB4 and Projects AKAP
which aims to lessen the low reading skill of pupils across the province of
Rizal and Intensification of supervision among pupils having difficulty in
answering the activity in each time under the modular distance learning.

After the discussion have been discussed the virtual orientation ended
up by the Teachers expressed their gratitude to the parents who shared their
time in attending the meeting.

IV. CONCLUSION

Special Education Class successfully conducted its first Virtual Parents


Orientation. Teachers’ best effort exerted for this activity which resulted to
proper and smooth conduct of the orientation and successfully shared the
important details that need to accomplish.

V. RECOMMENDATION

Parents orientation must be done regularly to ensure health wellbeing


and best learning outcome of Children w/ exceptionalities through
collaborative efforts of both Teacher and parents despite this pandemic. With
this, the school should highly recommend implementing this as best practices
of the school.
