2. Explain the difference between qualitative and quantitative research. Give examples to
illustrate your point. (5 points)
- Qualitative research is used to gain knowledge in a given life situation or hypothesis. For
example, doing historical analysis about the hidden treasures of Yamashita, or having an
ethnography type of research with the Ivatans to know more of their culture and way of
living. While quantitative research uses quantifiable data to solve a problem or to gain
knowledge. It is more structured than qualitative research because this uses various
ways of collecting data such as conducting paper surveys, online surveys, or doing
interviews.
3. Cite 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages of qualitative research. Explain these in your own
words. (5 points)
- Some advantages of doing qualitative research are you can personally get answers and
prove it. Also, this research is very flexible research. But you will consume and sacrifice
a big part of your time. And this may be very challenging because you will really
immerse yourself and dedicate your own life to achieve this research.
4. In what specific ways can your knowledge about research help you in life? Give a concrete
example. (5 points)
- The research will teach us how to solve anything we wanted to. I said it because when
doing research, you have to be responsible and be competitive to achieve what you
want to achieve. And this mindset will help us in our daily lives. Some concrete
examples of this are you will be more observant in the current happenings in the
government, be responsible with your surroundings, and help contribute something in
our country, or maybe worldwide.
5. If you were to conduct qualitative research, what specific topic would you like to research
on? Explain why you would like to research that topic. (5 points)
