Letter to my future self

Dear Future Self,

How are you? Are you still the same person I am right now? Or have you become the
person you have always wanted to be? Everything that has happened has led you to this
moment. I hope that time has been kind to you. I hope your high school experience was what
you hoped it would be. I can’t sit here and say I know what growing up was like, because I don’t.
I also can’t say that from what my parents have told me that it was easy.
I think you acquire the necessary attribute as a proud USTPian, I hope you have
contributed development to your community especially in the field of science and technology as
a proud civil engineer. You are responsible for maintaining the overall safety of society in many
ways including rural engineering, but I also hope that you contribute to society and industry as a
graduate of a prestigious school of USTP, and I also hope you maximize your career not just as a
civil engineer but also as an entrepreneur.
Do you remember what I wanted you to be? In any case that you have already forgotten
all those, let me remind you. I am a man who sucks at socializing. I have difficulties expressing
my emotions and I don’t like speaking in front of many people. Just like almost every person out
there, I have fears. All these things, are you still that same person? I have confidence that you
have changed, though. I hope you get to find the truly important things in life early. The man I
am right now is only half the man you are today. I will conquer these hindrances just as you
conquered yours. Good luck to me!
Good job self, I applaud you for surviving and doing great. Everything worked out exactly as it
should be. All the puzzle pieces fit, all the paths make sense. All the people were meant to be.
All the successes and failures and heartwarming and heartbreaking moments were all worth it.
Life is a gift, not something that is a given, so enjoy every second while you’re here. No regrets.
You were and are and have been and always will be yourself, and that’s what matters above all.

Yours truly,

Nahum Dave U. Mancilla
