HOW COVID-19 CHANGED MY TEENAGE LIFE

Post by Khairul Iman on 18 September 2021

Before I start, let’s talk a little bit about Covid-19. So, what is Covid-19? Basically, Covid-19 is a
contagious disease which first identified in Wuhan, China and it’s already spread globally. Today, I
would like to share with all of you a little bit of my experiences during this pandemic era especially as
a student and how I cope with it.

When the pandemic started, I was in Form five which I would be sitting for my biggest
examination which is SPM at the end of the year. But for me it’s a little bit unique because I sat for
the examination on the next year. You know what, the most tiring thing was waiting for the news for
our SPM’s date because it kept changing for about 3 times (I felt quite frustrated tho at that time).
But it didn’t end there. The real nightmare happened when government announced that school will
be closed temporarily and that’s marked the starting of online class. Some people said that online
class was very beneficial because it was much flexible and comfortable compared to the normal
learning. But it’s the opposite for me because I didn’t have friends and teachers that I could meet
and asked for their help. It’s true that we could ask them through the social media like Telegram, but
it didn’t feel real to me and absolutely it was not quite effective (I think many people agree with me).
Other things about online class were there’re many distractions at home such as television and video
games. So, I tend to use my time at home with playing video games and watching drama which
affected my study time.

Thus, I would like to share with you some tips on how to cope with the online learning. Firstly,
always find a person that you trust to have a talk or expressing your feeling whenever you feel stress
out. Trust me it worked very well. Other than that, we also need to always maintain our discipline at
home by dividing time for study and other things. To be exact, time management is the key. Always
make sure that you sleep early so you will not feel tired or sleepy during the class.

I cannot deny that fact that this pandemic brings many bad impacts but if we look from different
perspective, there’re a lot of benefits that we can gain from it. Firstly, the most important thing I
learn from this pandemic is being grateful. It may look like just a simple word but actually it carries a
big meaning behind it. If we look back our life before this where we can go anywhere freely without
having to wear all that such things like mask and sanitizer, the lockdown makes me realize that all
this while I’m enjoying such a wonderful life. When I hear some people are struggling to survive
during this pandemic, it makes me feel like very grateful because I can still living well with my family
and have enough food supply, internet connection and gadgets for online class. Other than that, one
thing that this pandemic teaches me is success always come with many challenges and sacrifices.
Although I had to face online classes which I think is a burden for me, but it doesn’t mean that you
need to give up. I would like to share with you a saying that motivates me whenever I’m down,
“Trust the process, that’s the price for success”.

Thank you for reading my blog. Take care and stay safe everyone!
