HOW I SPENT MY LOCKDOWN DAYS

The outbreak of the deadly coronavirus which originated in Wuhan, which spread to well over
six continents. The spread of coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the World Health
Organization. COVID-19 had reached India, and it being the second most populated country
in the world, took drastic measures to prevent its spread – India was to be set under complete
lockdown.

Just after the holiday was declared I was in chill mode, I spent the first few days like there was
no college ever after. I watched a lot of YouTube videos. I also restarted playing Computer
which I didn't do for a very long time. This lockdown period has also proven to be very
productive. I get to spend some quality time with my family. All this extra time at hand got me
pumped to learn a new skill. I quite honestly learned 3D Designing and they’re super
interesting! They’ll also come in handy when I’m building my portfolio.

I have also been using this extra time to catch up with the TV shows and so, contrary to the
popular opinion that this lockdown period is just unproductive and boring, I think it really
depends on how you spend your time. Being active on social media can help spend time but
it’s obviously going to get boring after a while. Meanwhile government issued instructions to
the colleges that all students be taught online at home during the lockdown.

Online classes were useful in many ways. It was easy to access and I can attend from anywhere.
Online exams were conducted which was new and easy to take those exams. Though I learned
through online classes I felt some difficulty in joining classes at first and my classmates forgot
to switch off their microphones during a session and I use to hear a lot of noise.

But as the holiday increased, I felt boring because I never spent that much time at home and
this lockdown was my first experience. I could not go to my school and also could not play
outdoor games with my friends. One thing that I did during this lockdown, and am glad about
is, calling up some good friends of mine. They were my college friends and also my school
friends. Speaking to some of them after a long time was really an enriching and blessed
experience. I am glad that each one of them was faring well in good health and spending time
with family.

One may think that there is not much to do during a lockdown, but it is a fallacy. There are
many sensible things to do during a lockdown than you would ever do during the normal
days. What actually matters is how you approach and see it. The lockdown was a bitter
experience but wasn’t actually that much bitter after all. I also did many good things that
made me content and others happy. As a coin has two sides, so does the lockdown also had
both good and bad attributes. During the lockdown, I tried to keep all the good things and
filter out the bad.
