DESCRIPTION OF THE EVALUATION PROCESS

The faculty member is evaluated using the QCE instruments in instruction.

The instrument for instruction (teaching effectiveness) uses a five-point rating

scale distributed as follows: 1–poor; 2–fair; 3–satisfactory; 4–very satisfactory; and 5–
outstanding. The instrument is composed of four sub-areas namely: commitment,
knowledge of subject matter, teaching or independent learning, and management of
learning. Each sub-area is given a weight of 25%, thus the total for the four areas is
100%.

The evaluators for instruction (teaching effectiveness) are the students, the
immediate supervisor, peers and the faculty herself/himself. The percentage allocation
per group of raters is as follows: students – 30%; immediate supervisor – 30%; peers –
20%; and self – 20%.

After the evaluation, weighted mean ratings per indicator are computed and
ratings for instruction are computed. An overall QCE rating is then computed.

Summary of all indicators were subjected to evaluation of the Local Review

Committee (Campus Level), after which by the University Review Committee.

Finally, the University endorses the reviewed QCE documents to the Regional
Review Committee for final processing and evaluation.
