company with business interests in 35 countries. As at end-March 2005, the Group
consisted of 103 wholly-owned subsidiaries, 19 part-owned companies, and 57 associates.
The Financial Times has identified Petronas as one of the “seven new sisters”: the country’s
most influential and mostly government-owned oil and gas company from countries outside
the OECD.

The Group is involved in a broad spectrum of petroleum activities, including upstream

exploration and production of oil and gas to downstream oil refining; marketing and
distribution of petroleum products; trade; gas processing and liquefaction; operation of gas
transmission pipeline network; marketing of liquefied natural gas; petrochemical
manufacturing and marketing; delivery; Automotive engineering; and real estate investment.

Petronas provides a huge source of revenue for the Malaysian government, contributing
more than 15% of government revenue from 2015-to 2020. The company is headquartered
at the Petronas Towers which officially opened on Malaysia's 42nd National Day, 1999-on
the corporation's 25th Anniversary. Petronas is also ranked among Fortune Global 500's
largest corporations in the world. In the 2017 Forbes Global 2000, Petronas Gas was ranked
as the 1881st largest public company in the world. Petronas also ranked 48th globally in
2020 Bentley Infrastructure 500.
Petronas History

Before the formation of Malaysia, Royal Dutch Shell first embarked on oil exploration in
Miri, Sarawak; after Charles Brooke signed the first Oil Mining Lease in 1909. In 1910, the
first oil wells were drilled in Miri. The oil well was later known as the Grand Old Lady. In
1929, oil was discovered in Brunei. There were no other drilling activities in Borneo or British
Malaya until the 1950s. In 1966, the enactment of the Petroleum Mining Act gave Exxon
and Shell the right to explore oil territories and generate oil royalties and tax payments to the
government. In the late 1960s, Esso and Continental Oil were granted concessions to
explore for oil off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. By 1974, Malaysia's crude oil
production amounted to about 90,000 barrels per day (14,000 m3/d) to 99,000 barrels per
day (15,700 m3/d).

Product / Services offer

Petronas provides a range of ready-to-use customer-centric solutions that ensure minimal

business disruption and increase our customers ’environmental footprint.

These are the product Petronas have provide:

1. Processed Gas
 Natural gas in its raw state is full of impurities. These include water, carbon dioxide,
hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen, crude oil as well as heavier hydrocarbons which are
mostly composed of ethane, propane, butane, and pentane. Therefore, before it can
be used, natural gas needs to be filtered through a complex industrial process to
produce pipeline-quality dry natural gas.

 During the process, crude natural gas is separated into its main components: sales
gas, ethane, propane, butane, and condensate. This process recovers the valuable
components contained in natural gas and allows for its efficient transportation over
long distances through pipelines.

 Sales gas, which consists mostly of methane, is supplied to the power, industrial and
commercial sectors while ethane, butane, and propane are supplied to petrochemical
plants as raw materials.

 The processed gas is mostly transported via the Peninsular Gas Consumption (PGU)
transmission grid, the longest pipeline in the country, spanning over 2,500km across
Peninsular Malaysia.
 Owning and operating PETRONAS Gas Berhad, the PGU project, which commenced
in 1984, consists mainly of gas transmission pipelines, supply pipelines, and side
pipelines. The system consists of six gas processing plants with a combined capacity
of 2,000 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and produces methane,
ethane, propane, butane, and condensate.

2. Gassing Up and Cooling Down

 Gassing Up and Cooling Down (GUCD) is a specialized service that removes inert
gas from an LNG vessel storage tank, which is then cooled to a cryogenic
temperature (-160 ° C). GUCD is required for LNG vessels, usually, after the dock is
dry, before the ship’s next cargo loading.

 Petronas GUCD services are available at the Regasification Terminal in Pengerang,

Johor.

3. LNG Bunkering
 With the International Maritime Organization’s global sulfur cover effective from 2020,
PETRONAS has taken proactive efforts to promote the use of LNG as a cleaner
marine fuel in the shipping industry.

 At the end of 2020, PETRONAS launched its LNG Bunkering solution and completed
the delivery of its inaugural commercial bunker in Pasir Gudang via MV Avenir
Advantage to Siemens Aristotle on 9 November 2020 via PETRONAS LNG
Bunkering Vessel (LBV).
 With the strategic location of PETRONAS gasification facilities in Pengerang, Johor,
and Sungai Udang, Melaka, we have strengthened Malaysia's position as an LNG
bunkering hub providing reliable and cost-competitive clean energy solutions.

 In addition, our LBV can also operate as an LNG carrier for delivery to small gas
demand centers that are not accessible by large conventional LNG vessels

4. Virtual Pipeline System

 As a progressive energy solutions partner, we pride ourselves on serving customers
with reliable access to cleaner energy such as natural gas.

 Virtual Pipeline Systems (VPS) solutions are designed to provide off-grid customers
with a reliable clean energy supply by delivering LNG using road trucks fitted with
cryogenic ISO tanks.

 Our VPS solution was launched in September 2020 to deliver LNG from the
Regasification Terminal (RGT) in Pengerang, Johor to remote customers in
Peninsular Malaysia. There will be more than 100 successful deliveries to customers
by the end of 2020.

 Through our VPS solutions, industries that do not have access to natural gas
infrastructure now have the option to switch to gas as an alternative form of clean
energy.

5. Carbon Dioxide
 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) plays key roles and can be applied across numerous
industries.

 In its solid state (-78°C), CO2 is known as dry ice and is used as a cryogenic fluid for
processes such as tissue conservation, deep-freezing and fire extinction due to its
non-combustible nature.

 CO2 that’s emitted into the atmosphere through chemicals, as well as oil and gas
operations, can be kept and purified for use in many industries and applications,
especially in the Food and Beverages industry.
Why Petronas chose Natural Gas?

A natural choice to move the business sustainably. Today, natural gas is positively
influencing the world towards a greener and more sustainable future.

Since it produces very small amounts of carbon dioxide, natural gas is considered one of
the cleanest and most energy-efficient forms of fossil fuels in existence. The flexibility it
possesses makes it suitable for a wide range of functions, from electricity generation to
heavy machinery generation and as a raw material for a wide range of petrochemicals and
household products.

Natural gas, as the cleanest burning fossil fuel, is poised to play an important role as an
energy source driving the transition toward a low-carbon future. As a low carbon solution for
the energy and industrial sectors, natural gas has great potential to create a cleaner future
and is an important part of Malaysia's energy mix.

To ensure that stakeholders and customers benefit from a cleaner and more reliable
energy supply in the long run, PEGT has introduced innovative and customer-centric
solutions to meet the various energy needs of customers.
