Industries and its expansion
To understand how GIDC works and participates in the functioning of the industries in
Ankleshwar region and how are they planning to expand in future.

Meeting Notes:
Type of Industries
• Chemical base industries along with pharmaceutical, agro chemical, textiles and
plastics in Ankleshwar.
• Ancillary engineering industries for existing chemical industries.
• Nearby GIDC Estates – Jhagadia, Panoli, Vilayat, Sayakha, Ankleshwar, Dahej,
Bharuch
• Jhagadia and Panoli are saturated estates.

Reason for Establishment


• Strategically and geographically planned due to Port and River nearby – Chemical
Industries.

Future Trends
• No scope for GIDC expansion in Ankleshwar – not economically feasible for land
acquisition.

Infrastructure
• Primary water source at present is Narmada River.
• Desalination plant in Dahej (Future source to treat seawater for industrial use).
• NCT (Narmada Clean Tech) formerly known as BEIL (Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure
Limited) is responsible for wastewater management and disposal.
• GPCB approves and overlooks the effluent treatment capacity of all industries.
• Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Dahej not working due to lack of
minimum quantity requirement.
• GIDC provides fire stations in all its estates and specifies norms as per fire safety.

Land & Housing


• Industry land is provided at Rs. 2,280/sq m by GIDC (rates are revised yearly).
• Dahej GIDC is under high demand for industrial setup where the land prices have
begun to spike up with many plots already been allotted.

• GIDC only provides the land on which the housing is developed by the industries or
developers.
• Current housing is 100% occupied.
• GIDC office staff have separate quarters.

Agro Chemical Industry
To understand the perspectives of agro chemical industrialists and their working.

Meeting Notes:

• Establishes in 1984.
• Produces insecticides and pesticides.
• Gradually expanded the area and now stands at 20 acres.
• It has 1,000 employees.
• It provides GIDC housing to its workers but is insufficient.
• Transport cost is provided to the workers who are travelling from Bharuch and
Ankleshwar.
• 10% - 20% of the material is imported.
• Established in Dahej as well in 2012.
• The stakeholder stays in Bharuch, just a matter of choice.
• GIDC provides no incentives of any kind.
• The industry has its own ETP and the treated water is used for cooling tower and
other activities.
• Primary source of water is Narmada River.
• GIDC Ankleshwar has a lot of other agro based industries.
