well? Why? Why not?

Yes I have found out a lot of plants and animals in our community, but most
of them are not well because of changes in the environment.

2. Can you find a connection between human action and the condition of these
organisms? What is it? Please elaborate.

Yes. There is a connection between them and that is when human activities
affect the physical environment in different ways that cause the changes of the
condition of these organisms.

What is it?

Pause for a while now and reflect on why these natural calamities are happening and
recurring in our world. What has been causing all of these?

All of these are caused by human activities that affect changes in our environment

Can you cite actions that you are used to do that may have a significant effect to the
environment?
What are these?

I used to throw trash in the wrong place and burn plastic when I was a kid even
though I knew it would have a significant effect on our environment.

From these perspectives, which do you think can become very destructive if not examined
well? Why?

The Anthropocentrism, it is because this perspective refers to a belief that human

beings are the most important entities in the universe. Thus, humans can have the power
to overuse our natural resources whenever they want, depending on their purposes or
needs, which can be very destructive to our environment.

Do you consider your place clean and orderly? If not, how should you respond then
to this situation?

No, because our place is full of clutter and trash from our neighborhoods. However, I
can respond to this situation by starting to keep our surrounding clean, throwing our trash
in the right and same place, suggesting my neighbors to stop burning their plastics of
garbage, and lastly, we should unite and help each other in cleaning our place for the
environment.

Environmental Problem Analysis

Anthropocentrism – Humans activities are the

main cause of pollution in our country due to
Air Pollution unnecessary and necessary purposes of people,
such as utilizing environment with full of
chemicals and burning plastics.

Anthropocentrism – Humans have overused

Deforestation natural resources for their wants and needs in
life.

humans are the most important species on the
Loss of biodiversity planet, species and habitats are becoming
extinct due to excessive human
exploitation.

● LESSON 2 Environmentalism & Sustainability ●

What’s New?

1. Do you believe that the Earth is our only home? Why? Why not?

Yes, because there is no home like this in the entire universe that sustains life.
Earth is the only planet where one lives permanently and provides natural resources to
survive.

2. Why do we need to care for the Earth?

We need to take care of the earth because to preserve and protect our national
resources for us to have better and safely environment.

What is it?

What about you? Have you experienced raising a pet? Tell us about your relationship with
your domesticated animal in the space below.
Yes, I have experienced raising and taking care of pets, which are dogs. And the bond
between our dogs and I is like no other but it is something that gives you a strong
emotional bond.

So, have you ever thought on how your actions affect nature? In what way do these affect
the Earth? Please write your response on the space provided below

Yes, I have already thought of how my actions affect nature. Actually, human actions have
positive and negative effect on our environment. Some of my actions can be helpful for
protecting our nature, but sometimes my actions can be harmful for the nature. It is just
up to me what actions I will do.

Now, reflect on how you have been using these resources: food, fuel, water, and electricity.
Have you been using them responsibly and efficiently? How can you use these resources
more sustainably?

These resources are very important in our daily lives for us to survive. That is why I am
using these resources very responsibly and efficiently to preserve and protect them
through responsible consumption and production not only for me, but for the next
generation as well.

How will you apply these principles and values in responding to the specific environmental
concerns that you have in your home, school, and community? Please give concrete
examples in the space provided:

I will apply these principles and values in responding to the specific environmental
concerns that I have in my home, school, and community by engaging in protecting and
preserving our natural resources, throwing the garbage in the right place, avoiding the
burning of plastics, conserving water, reducing electricity consumption, planting trees, and
doing the 3Rs.
