CASE 3: MOTORBUS COMPANY: QUE SERA SERA

SUMMARY
When a company bus comes in for repair, the mechanic diagnoses the various
automotive systems in the bus and later produces a list of parts needing replacement. The
mechanic sends the list to Engineer Inductivo, who, in turn, forwards the same to the company
accountant for approval of the purchase request. Later, he sends the purchased items to the
mechanic who made the request. The maintenance units were operating normally until 40 new
buses were produced by the company in 1993. Since then, every maintenance personnel was so
busy that they threatened to quit their jobs unless additiona lmechanics and assistants were
recruited.
Mechanics and drivers began complaining to the VP for Operations about delays in the
delivery of needed parts. The VP for Operations immediately sent a note to Engineer Inductivo
ordering that the problem should be resolved immediately. The next day, Engineer Inductivo
informed the VP for Operations that he is requesting for the approval of his application for
retirement as he is already 62 years old. On the same day, the request for retirement was
approved. One of the first things Engineer Ancheta did was to inspect the storage room for
parts. At the end of the day, Engineer Ancheta was informed by the VP that the company will
be fielding an additional 50 new buses within 30 days.
PROBLEM

 The company has been obtaining materials in a haphazard manner. There are some
parts that have enormous numbers, whereas others that are critical are understocked. A
large amount of old parts is also stored in a section of the storage area.
 Insufficient maintenance employees for the number of buses that will be servicing the
various routes assigned to the Motorbus Company.
OBJECTIVES

 Set Unit goals to help arrange situations while dealing with the company's problems.
 Create plans or methods to achieve the intended outcomes.
 Make a list of the resources that will be required.
 Create guidelines.
CONCLUSION AND RECCOMENDATIONS
There is proof that the business has increased the number of buses it operates, and that
the profit will be higher than it was previously with Engineer Inductivo in control of the
Motorbus Company's management. Aside from that, when Engineer Ancheta is appointed as a
new Manager, he will be on his way to making decisions like a true boss of the company, and
his order will be followed by the President of Operations. Because the President thought he
was a trustworthy Manager, he was selected to oversee the Maintenance Department's
activities. Furthermore, I believe they will require additional hiring of new staff as a result of the
addition of 50 new buses to the route given to MotorbusCompany. No one should be able to
quit, and he should be able to persuade his subordinates to do so as a result of strong
performance on the part of the workforce.
Here are some suggestions for Engr.Ancheta to consider in order to solve the challenges
that have arisen at the Motorbus Company:

 Inadequate, superfluous, and obsolete mechanical parts in the stock room can be
resolved by conducting a complete inventory. Furthermore, having precise inventory
can save a company money, time, and even manpower.
 In any firm, a shortage of workers and staff can have a significant impact on its
operations. In order to deal with the problem, Engr. Ancheta will need to hire more
workers and train them to be more capable.
 Engr. To have a well-structured and organized purchasing process, Engr. Ancheta should
select workers to be in charge of procuring mechanical parts for every ten buses and
maintaining an inventory of the parts needed to fix them.
 Because Engr. Because Ancheta is a new employee, he should be familiar with the
demands of all mechanics, assistants, and employees in order to improve workplace
coordination and handle their complaints and needs at the same time.
 Engineer Ancheta should get a master's degree in business administration because he
will be in charge of more tasks and staff.
