EarthQuakes
In the Philippines, particularly, in the island of Luzon, earthquakes are frequent due
to the many fault lines that run through the island. Magalang, being located in Luzon, PNP
is not exempt from being affected by an earthquake. Just in 2019, an earthquake that
originated from Zambales made its way to Pampanga, and consequently, Magalang; 0915-599-9759
damaging infrastructure and revealing that a lot of structures in the city would not

Tornadoes
In the 29th of July, 2019, a tornado, locally known as “hipo-hipo” ravaged through two
villages in Magalang, Pampanga; this prompted the local disater risk management
council to include tornado drills. This specific tornado caused property damage
amounting to P1.216 million, and destroyed crops worth approximately P134 184.
Worst of all, a roof was torn from its foundations in a school named “Magalang
Institute”, endangering students.

Typhoons
The Philippines is, quite literally, a typhoon magnet because of it being situated to the
west of the Pacific Ocean, and surrounded by multiple large bodies of water. And as
typhoons continue to strengthen due to climate change, more disastrous effects
become ever so present. In Magalang, typhoons still pose an ever-looming threat to
the infrastructure, agriculture, and human life. This has lead to Magalang giving
importance to its typhoon response.
