Total number of beads = 6 x 33 = 198
Number of beads for each girl = 198 ÷ 4 = 49.5 ≈ 49 remainder 2
b)
Number of beads left = 2

Ans: a) 49

2. Total volume of water = 10 926 - 8 000 = 2 926 mℓ


Volume of water in each container = 2 926 ÷ 7 = 418 mℓ

Ans: 418 mℓ

3. a)
Area of square S = 8 x 8 = 64 cm2
b)
Length of rectangle R = 64 ÷ 4 = 16 cm
Perimeter of rectangle R = (4 + 16) x 2 = 40 cm

Ans: a) 64 cm2

4. Cost of 1 pen & 2 pencils = 1.95 + 2 x 0.85 = $3.65


Additional amount needed = 3.65 – 2 = $1.65

Ans: $1.65

Let cost of 1 shirt = u
Cost of a bag = 4u
Cost of a bags & 5 shirts = 4u + 5 x u = 9u = 270
u = 270 ÷ 9 = 30
Cost of bag = 4u = 4 x 30 = $120
b)
Remaining money = 330 – 270 = $60
Number of shirts he could buy with $60 = 60 ÷ u = 60 ÷ 30 = 2

Ans: a) $120
b) 2

8. Let number of players in second team = u


Number of players in first team = u + 50
Number of players in third team = ½ u
Total players = u + u + 50 + ½ u = 2½ u + 50 = 350
2½ u = 350 – 50 = 300

u = 300 x 5 = 120

Number of players in first team = u + 50 = 120 + 50 = 170

Ans: 170

9. Errata in question: Mr Tan spent $80 to buy 25 items consisting of bottles of


sanitisers and packets of face mask.
a)
If all the items were face masks, number of packets bought = 80 ÷ 2 = 40
Excess number = 40 – 25 = 15
Excess value = 15 x 2 = $30
Difference in price = 5 – 2 = 3
Number of bottles of sanitisers bought = 30 ÷ 3 = 10
b)
Number of packets of face masks = 25 – 10 = 15
Ans: a) 10

Number of children = 100 + 100 + 50 + 100 + 250 = 600
