∠DAF = (128 – 38 – 38) ÷ 2 = 26°

Ans: 26°

7. Let capacity of 1 glass = u

5 x 4 x u + 17u = 10.36 ℓ

37u = 10.36

8. a)
Number of Lego pieces in stack 6 = 11

b)
Let Stack number = n
Number of Lego pieces = (n – 2) x 2 + 3 = 2n – 1

Number of Lego pieces for stack 35 = 2n – 1 = 2 x 35 – 1 = 69

Ans: (a) 11
(b) 69

9. Let number of strawberries = 5u

Number of raspberries = 7u – 5u = 2u

Remaining raspberries = 2u – 30
Remaining fruits = 2u – 30 + 5u = (7u – 30 )

5u 10
(7u-30) = 11

55u = 10(7u – 30) = 70u – 300

15u = 300
u = 300 ÷ 15 = 20

Number of strawberries picked = 5u = 5 x 20 = 100

Ans: 100

10. Let 3u = Anna’s age n 2003

Lina’s age in 2003 = 5u

In 2009, Anna’s age = 3u + 6

Lina’s age = 5u + 6

3u + 6 2
5u + 6 = 3

3 x (3u + 6) = 2 x (5u + 6)
9u + 18 = 10u + 12
u = 18 – 12 = 6

Anna’s age in 2014 = 3u + 6 + 5 = 3u + 11

Lina’s age in 2014 = 5u + 6 + 5 = 5u + 11

Combined age in 2014 = 3u + 11 + 5u + 11 = 8u + 22 = 8 x 6 + 22 = 70

Ans: 70 years

11. Let n = number of bottles given to each runner initially

Number of bottles given away by the 15 runners = 15n

Rest of runners = 40 – 15 = 25

Number of additional bottles received by 25 runners = 25 x 3 = 75

Number of bottles given away by 15 runners = number of additional bottle

received by 25 runners

15n = 75
n = 75 ÷ 15 = 5

Number of bottles Ravi gave away = 40n = 40 x 5 = 200

Ans: 200

Ratio children in Dream Theme Park to those in Movie Theme Park 5u : 8u
5:8

b)
Ratio of adult to children in Movie Theme Park  5 : 2  10p : 4p
Ratio changed to 13p : 4p

Increase in adults = 13p – 10p = 252

3p = 252
p = 252 ÷ 3 = 84

Number of children in Movie Theme Park = 4p = 4 x 84 = 336

17. Question Errata: b) “Given that the printing cost for each brochure is $2”
a)
Difference in number of brochures = 8450 – 3770 = 4680

Number of months = 4680 ÷ 360 = 13 months

b)
Brochures printed by Printer D per month = 8450 ÷ 13 = 650
Brochures printed by Printer E per month = 3770 ÷ 13 = 290

Total brochures printed by Printer D = 650 + 50 = 700

Total brochures printed by Printer E = 290 + 50 = 340

Total brochures printed by 2 printers = 700 + 340 = 1040

Total printing cost = 1040 x 2 = $2080

Ans: (a) 13 months

(b) $2080
