SUM MEASURES OF THE

ANGLES IN A TRIANGLE
By Ghassan Arkwak

Prof. Dr. Marsigit

Outlines

• Types of Angles.
• Types of Straight lines.
• Angles resulting from parallel lines.
• Examples.
Types of Angles

1. Perpendicular angle = 90°. ⦜

2. Straight line angle = 180°. ⩡
3. Central angle = 360°.
4. Acute angle < 90°. ⦟ ⦣
5. Obtuse angle > 90° and <180°. ⦦
Types of Straight lines

• Parallel straight lines.

• Intersecting straight lines.
Angles resulting from parallel lines

• Mutual angles (Equal).

• Symmetrical angles (Equal).
• Allied angles (sum = 180°).

4 = 2
5= 3
1 + 2 + 3 = 180 5 4

1+ 4 + 5 = 180.

• So, we conclude that the sum of measures of the angles in the triangle equal
180°.
Examples
• Which of the angles represents the angles of a triangle?
1- A=45° B=60° C=50°.

2- A=70° B=50° C=60°.

3- A=85° B=45° C=55°.
