You are to self-evaluate your comprehension level and the quality of your assignment of this
unit, based on the criteria. The self-evaluation contains 2 parts.
For section 1, you are to rate, among A, B, C, D and E, for each item based on your self-
evaluation of the degree of your comprehension level of the unit materials: the readings, video
clips and/or lecture notes. A total, maximum score is 8 points.
For section 2, you are to evaluate the quality of your assignment. You are to add a brief feedback
on your overall comprehension for your learning experience of the materials/assignments.
Fill out the evaluation sheet and turn in to the drop box by adding it at the end of your paper
(turned in text format in the drop box). You may also turn in the sheet as an attachment, along
with your paper assignment.
The ‘self-evaluation/self-scoring’ process allows you to be reflective of the materials and take a
close look at the quality of own responses/papers.
It also allows you to re-write your papers until desired scores. Rewriting paper is welcome until
the due date. If you end up submitting multiple papers due to rewriting, I will assume your paper
of the latest submission reflects the last, updated paper and the final score.
The course instructor will examine your paper and self-evaluation. S/he reserves a right to re-
evaluate your paper. The instructor’s score may differ from your self-evaluation score.
Instructor’s score will be reflected on your gradebook, if grade change occurs due to the
discrepancy between student’s self-evaluation and instructor’s evaluation.
a) I read all of the assigned readings and the other materials (e.g., lectures, videos, data,
etc…).
b) I have comprehended the points and themes of each and all reading
c) I am able to see the basic differences between the three approaches addressed by these
readings

2. Is the word count of my response, if required, appropriate for the required word
number?
3. Are my responses “specific” (as opposed to general or over general), having the
“breadth/depth” (as reflective of the main points of the materials), and “accurate” in
reflective of the specificity of the relevant information of the materials.
5. My answer for each question is “direct” to the point and context of the question and
I stated my response in the very first sentence of the paragraph.
Avoid repeating and including the entire question in your response. This wastes the
required word count or make your response “dull” when there is no requirement for
word count. Instead, shorten and summarize the question to the very point of the
question and add it in your response. (This also demonstrate your comprehension skill
required for undergraduate and graduate courses)
6. To my best ability, I did not apply poor logic in my response such as repeating essay
question to draw my conclusion without explaining the breadth of the information in my
own word (“A is A, therefore A is A” response without explaining exactly how A is A).
8. I understood that there was a required format for this paper and I satisfied the
requirement. The format of my paper is the same as the required format shown in
the sample.
Questions/Instruction
Apply what you learned from the unit materials as you formulate answers to the following
questions:
1. After viewing the Tuskegee video, you are to discuss the ethical violations committed
during the course of the study. Your statements should consider the content you learned
from the Guidelines on research and human subjects as well as related matters from the
19 aspects from Tuskegee video.
Rubrics and self-evaluation sheet
2. Instruction:
3. List 5 aspects in the Tuskegee study that are considered to be ethical violation (e.g.,
Racial issues, Consent, etc...). For each aspect, describe how the study violated the aspect
with a specific example to justify your description (80-90 words for EACH aspect). For
the sample format and criteria for evaluation, see the attached file.
4. ***For the consideration of full points, your paper needs to follow the same format as it
is shown in the sample added below***
