CONCEPTUALIZATION OF RESEARCH PROPOSAL

I. Conceptualize by Looking Inward then Outward. Things to reassess about yourself
and strategies before choosing a research topic.
1. Your knowledge and interest about the topic - writing about a topic you have ideas
about and relevance to you can give you some sense of direction and motivation.
2. Your resources and logistics- consider your finances, your location and mobility, and
the time allotment.
3. Your research and writing skills - your topic might be interesting but also consider its
difficulty and the possible length and technicality of writing. Start with most basic
QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH type which is DESCRIPTIVE.
4. Your expertise in designing and testing research instruments - you can create your
own original instrument but for starters, better ADOPT or ADAPT a tested instrument
already used and proven by published research works. Start with using a SURVEY
QUESTIONNAIRE.
5. Search for guide studies with instruments from credible sources - find a study
compatible to items 1-4 from credible sources such as academic portals and physical
libraries.

ACTIVITY:
1. Go to the sites of the academic portals presented above and try to locate a study you
feel interested with and you think you can manage to also write about.
2. Preferably, choose a study which has a PDF downloadable icon (download it), then
scan reading the document and check on the research problems written in the study..
3. FIND A STUDY WHICH HAS A SURVEY QUESTIONNAIRE INSTRUMENT. You
can usually find it at the appendices but sometimes in the chapters too.
4. The study you will pick should have been published/dated within the last 10 years
only!
