1. What will be the PRESENT VALUE :

a)$6000 due in 20 years at 5% compounded annually
b)$4000 due in 12 years at 7% compounded semiannually
2. What EFFECTIVE RATE is equivalent to the given nominal rate

3. solve the system algebraically :

4. a) Find the equation of a straight line passing through the point (-2,-3) and
perpendicular to the given line 3x- 4y = 12. Express the equation in slope –intercept
form.

c) Mr Albert wants to borrow money from his mother, and he is offered a five-year,
non-compounding loan of $7,000, with a 3% annual interest rate.  What is Mr Albert’s
total interest expense? What is the total amount he paid altogether?
