Boone Pickens’ Leadership Plan

"Why don't you step and take someone who will replace you," a journalist questioned
Boone Pickens 16 years ago. Pickens was 68 years old at the time when the writer
asked him that bizarre question. Pickens then grasped why the writer posed that
question: there is a limited potential for him at that age, but Pickens disagrees. "As long
as you want to make it, it's as big as you want to make it," Pickens remarked. If you
want to get to the feeding through, all you have to do is get up there and go after it."I
think Pickens wants to point out that, age is not a hindrance as an entrepreneur and
also as well as a leader. If you set a goal for yourself, you will work hard to achieve it
and overcome any obstacles that may arise.

Pickens unveiled the Pickens Leadership Plan, which consists of ten fundamental
guidelines. This set of general rules will assist us in determining how to increase our
effectiveness and efficiency. Pickens' first rule is to have a strong work ethic, which I
agree with because, as a leader, you are a role model for your employees, therefore it
should start with you. The second rule that he follows is to plan ahead of time. If you
have a plan, he claims, you will be haunted by something, indicating that you will work
hard to achieve your goals. Stick to your plan and start looking for major things; his third
recommendation is to stay focused and avoid distractions. Pickens shared his fourth
rule, which is that before asking advice, you should first check whether the person is
knowledgeable to prevent wasting your time. Because we have no control over our time,
we should utilize it wisely and be prepared at all times. We must learn to correctly utilize
our time because it is a gift to us. You should make your point in three minutes or fewer,
according to Pickens' fifth rule. His sixth rule is to not be afraid to make a decision; once
the presentation is completed, it is placed on the table, and you must make a decision
for those who prepared for you. As a leader, you should always be on the lookout for
things that need to be altered, because making changes will lead to a better outcome
than what you now have. His eighth guideline, to welcome change, was clarified as a
result of this. The eighth guideline, according to Pickens, is to avoid cheating because
cheating offers no satisfaction. His eighth guideline encourages us to be patient and not
rush things, because impatience can lead to cheating. You'll be able to do more if you
don't put pressure on yourself to finish activities quickly, as this will help you achieve a
satisfactory result. Finally, his eleventh rule states that you should always give of your
time and money to charity. His grandmother said, "Don't forget to look back."
